Only just finished downloadan, playing the first track as I type this, arranger seems a bit full of himself. What do you guys think?

Moss.

It's OCRemix, most of them are full of themselves.
The rest just aren't very good at what they do, lol.

Sorry, personal grudges. I'll make my own music, the Final Fantasy soundtracks are already great, they don't need remixed.

Ok, this is bad. Their FF7 remix thing had SOME ok tracks, but this thing is just bad, track after track after track.

I'm uploading one of them in this post, just listen to it, fuck.

It's not even an "OC Remix". It's a "7 or 8 Guys From OC Remix Who Think That They Are The Essence Of Remixing Game Music". I stopped getting these "albums" a long time ago.

Why the fuck did they include the FLAC and MP3 files? I don't need to download 1+ fucking Gigs.

That said, I found like, two tracks I liked. Out of 40 tracks, I'd say it's a waste of time to download.

Remixing and re-arranging is really only okay if it's done by the person who originally wrote the music.
Case in point: Black Mages.

(Does not apply to Jazz)

I disagree with that. I've heard some excellent mixes on OC Remix, but they're usually one-shots, and the people who did them are never heard from again. These people that seem to be "regulars" at OCR just aren't very good.

Jonesy

Ew @ that song.

Although, I quite liked the FF7 OCRemix album; though a few of the songs were shit I found that overall it was pretty good. (Though not as good as the originals.)
I'm much too lazy to put an actual signature here.

I love the title. It doesn't take long to say at all or anything.

And it's certainly not pretentious, or give the impression that the artists think they're the best musicians that there ever was.

Malson

I was trying really hard not to laugh while listening to the song Roph linked, so i didn't look like an idiot to my family. But yeah. It bothers me how people like Flo Rida can make a career out of ripping others' songs off, when honest musicians like myself probably won't ever get their big break. Listening to bullshit like this is no different than YAH SPIN MAH HED RITE ROUND, and certainly no less derogatory to people who really ARE talented musicians. That's not to say all remixes are awful, but people who call themselves legitimate composers for adding drum loops and synth effects to random video game melodies don't deserve a fraction of the praise they get for it.

Heh, when I listened to Roph's link to an excuse for a song I thought to myself "Well, it could be worse. They could start singin-" And they started singing.

Then I thought "At least the song isn't that long." But then I realized that I wasted 2 minutes and 30 seconds of my life listening to some guy with an unnaturally deep voice try to sound cool singing (Talking? Vomiting? I can't tell) about video games to a poorly mixed version of an otherwise perfectly good Chocobo Theme. I know a cockatiel that can sing that song better (really, I do):

But that's besides the point.

Getting to Malson's point, I can sympathize with how overrated all the popular 'artists' are getting these days. If I wanted to listen to [insert name of original song that was remade because of a lack of original ideas], I'd go into my iTunes and listen to it. I've got a good friend, much like Malson and all the other composers making self-inspired and meaningful music, that writes his own songs and performs them on a fairly regular basis (to small crowds, big surprise there). I'd pay money to listen to his music, but the sad truth is that the general public wouldn't.

It hurts seeing what the world has come to. People find "Mah lips liek sugah, da duh dee dah doo dah" incredibly catchy (and I'll admit, I do too. I'm sick of the song by the second chorus though), and so the Flo Rida's of the world keep coming back for more. From a business standpoint though, if people like your cheap imitations of great songs, then it would be smart to keep making more of them. I'm not a fan of the idea, as it keeps new, better artists from emerging, but I can't really argue that they're making a good living for themselves.

Grafikal

I'm not going to lie. I didn't read anything you wrote except for THIS BIRD MAKES BETTER MUSIC and you weren't lying.
