A story based on a three-hundred page writing written by me about three years ago. I'm aiming to go for a cinematic based adventure, focusing on the atmosphere and plotline. I'll try my up most best to provide adequate gameplay as well although that is not my best area. It asks the questions the purpose for 'good vs evil' amongst other things. Despite the appearance of the storyline, expect the unexpected.

Progress:

Scream and wraith about the stories cliche's all you like.
Spoiler for:
A group of explorers stumble across a mass of land during an assignment to deliever cargo to the suffering continent, Mutane, which was at war with a plague of evil named the Hex. Meanwhile, the governmental society the Cyber Mercanaries move their headquarters to the newly discovered continent, unaware of the secrets it hides...

50 years later, the newly named continent, Quilaski bustles with activity as large cities and towns emerge, among the biggest being Utocrush, home of the C.M. A deadly fire erupts in the neighbouring town, and soldiers march in. It it unknown to what caused the attack, but the blame is put on the Fire Guardian, and the C.M issue its capture, as well as the Water Guardian. Little survived the onslaught of flames, however, the next day a mysterious cat, Zephyr, discovers a young boy still alive as well as his mother. Before Zephyr has a chance to react, thousands of soldiers clamber through the shrubbery in heavy armour an surround the young woman. The weak lady briefly told the purple cat to flee with her son so that he may survive. "His name is Riley, take care of him"

Zephyr turns away, quickly carrying the young lad, heeding the promise of his mother. Within a few moments of getting away, gunshots are heard.

16 years later...

Cinematique Dramatica :AI
Birds will flee when you approach them, Npcs will interact with the environment as you explore and watch as nature makes its move in Hexed Legacy. Indulge in the active settings and exotic locations of Quilaski.

Spoiler for:

Riley
Age: 17
Riley is the sort who is not so easily tainted by danger, however is somewhat modest and careless. He remembers little of his mother, or her name and has a phobia of fire. Riley has known Zephyr for a long time, and has formed an unbreakable bond with her, like a sister. Since the moment of his birth, Riley was thrust into an old legacy and the inevitable road ahead of him.

Zephyr
Age: Unknown
Zephyr is unknown to who she really is, and Riley can't seem to decide whether she's a feline or canine. She can place curses on people, causing them to have some form of bad luck. She can speak fluently with people unlike other types of beast. She seems to remain ever the same, unchanged by the face of time and has seen the life and death of various towns and cities and the death of people. She, however, is unfamiliar with the terms of death and the massive sacrifice it brings until she met that woman that day.

Allan
Race: Human
Age: 19
Weapon of preference: Unknown
Allan is the older brother of Tay. He left her to live in the forest city of Elvenbow. The only remains of his connection with her is a shining green emerald ring, one of a pair that Tay has the other half of. He feels regret by leaving Tay behind, due to her being locked away in her room countless times because of his abusive father, expires, Graham. She is strong willed, but relatively clumsy with the environment and people, making mistakes at random times.

Tay
Race: Human
Age: 14
Tay is a forgiving sweet girl, perhaps somewhat too forgiving as she has regretably stayed at her home rather than running away with her brother, in a hope that her father would return to the way he behaved when her mother was still alive. She keeps a beautiful red ruby ring, engraved with beautiful designs. Allan has always yearned to understand his siblings decision, and lacks some understanding in her emotions and her reasoning for doing so.

Coltrane
Race: Human
Age: 45
As head of the research facility of the governmental agency, C.M, Coltrane takes charge of the research projects. He developed a doll called Katumaru which Gajaki could use as a weapon. He is currently studying the cause of the Hex infected creatures, and the connection it has with a trio of magical guardians.

Gajaki
Age: 37
A cruel man who likes to get ahead with sarcastic quirks and demotivation as a method of assigning tasks to his underclassmen. He believes that suffering seems to be the only way the government get their money, but people employed under him find him difficult to tolerate. He is one of the commanders under direction of the founding Governor, Kodu.

Interesting... I admit the story sounds a bit cliche, but it's only the prologue, so I'll give you benefit of the doubt there that it won't be as cliche later on. Cliche or not though, I'm liking what I see so far. I absolutely love how that second screenshot looks, but the third one could use some work (like making the tree shadows semi-transparent). The fact that you have concept art itself is impressive, especially that dragon. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this project.

On another note, I applaude this game topic's layout and presentation. Few people take the time to really organize everything so well, and it shows that you're taking this game very seriously. Hats off to you for it.

@Zylos: Its fixed now, i never actually noticed that. Thanks a heap for pointing that out!
And yes, presentation means alot to me. I would only view and retain my interest in properly presented topics, so I would imagine other people's mental inutition would be similar.

Just fyi, you screwed up the link.

EDIT: Gah, 111MB? If this isn't a game that has hours of gameplay, then you need to reduce the size.

The actual filesize is 59mb. I think this is due to the fact that the files are encrypted. I'll upload an unencrypted version right now. O.O I didn't notice the link was messed up, sincere apologies, I'll get that fixed up quick. I will repent for my sins, promise :x

The encrypted files shouldn't increase file size that much. At least with my game, 2/3 of the filesize is the music (I don't use crappy midis).

Alright, you have a lot of work to do.

  • For starters, the battles were crap. I took out the fire boss before he even had a chance to attack. Not to mention, a skill has no description. You need to revamp the database.
  • You can move in the cutscenes. Doesn't make sense. I can also open the menu.
  • Your presentation is horrible. The widescreen bars are not big enough. I see the map on the right side. Not to mention, that picture of a boat looked stupid. I was tempted to close the game right there.
