This isn't exactly a new project, but it is lacking both demo and screenshots, so I suppose that means it'll fit in well here.

-History/Plot-
In a time when dragons and god-kings vie for power and dominance over the land, holding battles that would lay waste to landscapes and ultimately alter the course of destiny, there was a single man who's actions would shake the foundations of time itself, bringing the chaos to an end, and leaving the world in peace.

That time, however, has long since passed.

The Kingdom of Aritria has been regarded by most as the most powerful of the seven, and despite being a part of the most monster-infested territory, has managed to hold its own in this time of relative peace.  Encampments of goblins, orcs, and other bestial creatures are seen now and again, but are often dealt with swiftly, in order to provide more of a safe-haven for the citizens therein.

However, one such raid begins a tale of loss and revenge, as a group of young mercenaries are directed to a gnoll camp which has been seen in the vicinity of one of the towns.  Their success may prove to be their undoing, as those wronged by their hands rise up, thirsting for vengeance."

This is a mostly (with very few alterations) RTP game, designed with the sole purpose of telling a story, rather than creating a game.  You may or may not find this strange, considering I'm using a game creation program to make something that is not designed to be a game.  But story and characters are truly the backbone of any good RPG, and these are what I am seeking to place at the forefront.  I have very few specific details at this time, mainly due to the fact that other than a few major plot points, I am mainly uncertain of how the story will flow.  The game will be as long as it needs to be in order to tell the tale, be it five hours or fifty hours, and being all RTP, I should be able to handle the workload alone.

I was going to attempt to keep things under wraps, but as my first game, I feel that I should at least allow you all to see what I'm working on and what I'm capable of.

-Characters-

Keras - Gnoll
One of the few survivors of the raid upon his camp, Keras has sworn vengeance upon the humans who brought death to his loved one and brother.  Far more of a thinker and philosopher than a swordsman, he nevertheless takes up the sword, seeking to return the favor.
Speech Patterns - Long-winded and eloquent, and very often self-reflective on even the smallest of things.

Gus - Shrooman
Having gotten separated from his tribe, Gus had found himself loss in the Fungal Forest.  As his body, like the others of his clan, are prized by humans for their medicinal properties, he fell under attack by a small group of bounty hunters, to which Keras came to the rescue.
Speech Patterns - Humorous and often crude, doesn't have exemplary speaking ability.  An amusing offset to Keras.

Cyrus - Skeletal Knight
Guarding a tomb is boring business, especially when the entrance has long been sealed.  However, Cyrus stands to his duty, defending it from any who may approach.  However, prior to his encounter with Keras, a band of treasure-hunters made it past him, and now he finds himself with no command to follow.
Speech Patterns - Honorable and honest; he never says what he doesn't mean.  Speaks with a medieval 'accent' (Thee, thy, thou, etc)

Annette - Harpy
The daughter of the high priestess of the Storm Talon clan, Annette's life has always been an easy one.  However, one day while out playing with her elder brother, he is killed by a troupe of humans.  Since that day, Annette has grown bitter and cold, and seeks blood with an overwhelming passion.
Speech Patterns - Prone to cursing, and quite violent.  Always seeks to follow the path which will lead to the most bloodshed.

Taria - Elemental
History unknown as of yet.
Speech Patterns - Shy, quiet and demure.  Questions are often child-like in curiosity and naivety.

-Features-

As I stated before, the game is mostly RTP, meaning no fancy CBS, CMS, Scripts, or the like.  The game is engineered to be highly engrossing, what with the lore of the world and the deep, well-rounded characters.  However, there are a few features already present, and another planned.

Interactive World - Keras can interact with nearly everything that is available.  Be it reflecting on the passage of time in his reflection upon a river, or simply being amused at how even moss, given enough time, can take down a stone pillar, he has much to say.

Constant Character Interaction - The dungeon maps, the overworld(if I make one), and battles themselves will all be rife with conversation.  Adventuring would certainly be boring business if there was naught to do but walk and fight.  Expect characters to poke fun at one another, laugh together, and even criticize each other during battles.  Silence is not golden.

Character Relationships - Through a myriad of choices, relationships between characters will change.  This will affect (mainly) dialogue between the characters, and (to a lesser extent) the very plot itself.  And not just with Keras, either.  Expect to see choices from the POV's of Gus, Cyrus, Anette and Taria, as well, affecting both their relationships with Keras, but also with one another.

Card Game of some kind - This is just a planned idea, and if it deems too annoying to deal with, I'll more than likely cut it out until the game is complete.  However, some sort of Monster Dice or something, to take a break from the plot every once in awhile would be understandable.  I'll see what I can do with this.

-Looking For-
I'm not trying to do anything particularly fancy with this first game, but if someone is bored and wouldn't mind making face sets, or something small to that degree, I wouldn't mind. ^^

Ones needed(RTP sprite given):
Goblin01 (Sans the eyepatch.  I've removed that on my own)
Monster04
Undead03
Bird02
Elemental01-04(Though, making the fiery ones 'angry,' the water ones 'calm,' etc etc would be amusing.)

-Screenshots-
None yet.  The script is still being worked on, for the most part, rather than the actual game.  I do tinker with the maps every now and again though, so perhaps we can see what mapping skills, if any, I have.

Not to be predictable, but...
Definitly an interesting idea. I rather like the making of it to tell a story, rather than to be a game. Story is also the backbone, like you said. Good luck with this project, and keep the posts up, even if they are just for me.

It's kinda too long story type. Well, I think its better to be a story-telling. Hope you success finishing it.
