I don't mean to be rude, but I'm having some serious deja vu here while playing this game.

1.) The opening is EXTREMELY similar to that of my own game Shadows (which was made a long time before yours).
The game begins with you naming the main character, followed by a scary sound effect and some opening lines centered on a black screen.

Main Character: "Where... Am I?"
Main Character: "It's so dark in here..."
Main Character: "Wait... What's this?"

*lights match*

Main Character: "Where the hell am I? I can't even remember how I got here. Oh well..."
Main Character: "I guess I should try to find a way out of here first. I can ponder this later."

The player must then explore his surroundings to find an escape to a locked room.

The game begins with a scary sound effect and has opening lines centered on a black screen.

Main Character: "Ugh... my head..."
Main Character: "Where... where am I?"
Main Character: "It's so dark..."

*lights match* (the exact same sfx, too...)

Main Character: "What the...? What is this place?"
Main Character: "Argh, my head... it feels like it's on fire..."
Main Character: "I've got to get out of here..."

The player must then explore his surroundings to find an escape to a locked room.
2.) I also recognize the main character's sprite from another survival horror game, Forlorn Mannor. I thought that the game maker had made his sprites himself. Where did you get them?

Funny, I also had the same hunch about those similarities, Zylos.

Oh, I'm so sorry about those similarities. I have never played Shadows before (I will now though) so I had no idea. I guess great minds think alike eh? I hope there are no more similarities like that.

Also, what is Forlorn Manor? I've never heard of this game before, all of my sprites were publicly available on a japanese RPG Maker VX site. If Forlorn Manor is another survival horror game I am interested in playing it. Perhaps it is an RMRK exclusive?

I don't know if the game maker made those sprites or not, but I recieved mine from a japanese materials site. If you like I could search real hard and get the link for you?

As for the Shadows similarities, I did not mean to cause alarm. My opening was inspired by a suggestion one of my beta testers gave me early in development. I guess he must have played Shadows then. The rest of the game's content was directed by me.

Update:

One of my testers discovered a discrepancy where a door event later on in the game is set to "Below Here", preventing game progress. Thus, I have released a new version with this bug fixed, and containing all the missing files to boot!

To those already playing old version:

You will not be able to continue once you encounter the shoddy eventing. Just download the new version and cut/paste your save file (savegame.rxdata) into the new directory to continue.

Update

The site hosting my uploads (RPGMaker.net) overhauled their site URLs today so the links I had posted previously died. I have now updated them. Sorry for any inconvenience.

hey been playin your game lately. just had the weird grim reaper guy chase me for the first time and about to figure out where to put the power grid thing and the compact disk.
I'm liking the feel of it but I dont understand why there is grass and plants in most areas of the buildings.
If you've woken up in the prison and this outbreak happened not too long ago then the plants wouldnt have gone out of control yet.....as in growing all over the place.

Hated that percentage puzzle lol dont like percentages   lol

So far so good. like the idea of havin the monsters wonder around the room after you even if it does get annoyin after awhile lol im sick of games with random encounters so this was a nice change.
Also liked how when you load your game the sound of a tape rewinding plays....gives me the impression that the game is set in the past maybe??
------------
I'v played some more and im stuck on the cryptogram puzzle....thats if it is a cryptogram I cant tell?? the words look like this thf thsff wose....blah blah blah I wont ruin it but in the full sentence some of the words are orange,  some are green and the rest are normal. I dunno how to solve it....do I replace them with different letters? do I rearrange the letters?? If I do replace them then are there any letters that shouldnt be replaced?? like thf.....seems like it should be "the" meaning each F= E......I dunno!! ARRR MY BRAIN!! lol

Other than that I see your game is veeeeerrry much like resident evil. I'm startin to feel like not much of the game is your own idea other than the change of story and the puzzles. You have a big research facility that created these creatures running around everywhere. Zombies....the big guy chasing you every now and again, the safe rooms, the music, the SFX. It seems very familiar.
--------------------------------
ok iv completed the game now and I must say I was dissapointed with the first boss. all I had to do was sit behind a pillar and watch him run up and down for 2 mins till I could hit him and do the same again. most boring boss in the world. also there is a HUGE ERROR IN YOUR GAME
when the guy dies you get a choice whether to stay with him or leave him. I chose stay with him and became the girl. I got the items and came back and nothing happened, also the character I was previously using was not in the room (I would have thought he'd be by the dieing guy) I then walked up to the room with the plasma gun and when I left it I suddenly became invisable and was unable to access my inventory or even quit the game. had to press alt+enter to minimize the screen then click on the red X in the corner.
......you may want to fix that.

I would score this game a 4/10. I was too simlar to resident evil, had the huge mistake and other bugs I found in it, and also after awhile it left me bored especially the boss

Dark Gaia

Hi! I'm glad you enjoyed the game... Of course, the similarities between my game and Resident Evil did not escape my notice... In fact, they are intentional! The game is designed to emulate the classic survival horror genre, of which the save room, the puzzles etc are standard conventions. Games such as Fatal Frame and Silent Hill also emulate this style.
Thanks by the way for informing me of that error with controlling Tiffany as nobody else has told me about that. I will fix it right away!
