My Xbox Live account was banned just because I blew up all my teammates in Call of Duty 4 in Search & destroy. I only did it about 12 times. >_>;;

If you don't care about the score then make a new account. Cause that's the only reason anyone would buy the 800 point name change. You could just readd all your friends and message them of your new account, simple as that.
That only reason I can think of for not making a new account is if you had any subscriptions/download content on there. In which case 10 bucks to change your name sounds like a good idea. I really doubt they'll give you a free one if your name isn't blatantly offensive.

The character limit fucked me over and I accidentally have Johnathon Doert instead of Johnathon Doerty.  What are the chances of microsoft not being total jews and just being like- alright, well it was an accident, here change your name.
