I'll skip the backstory because I'm sure you're not interested...

but how do I change my IP address?

Irock

Unplug your modem for a few minutes.

sigh animefan the world is not out to get you.

Your Isp assigns an ip to your modem from that your router or whatever assigns one to your pc. go start-> run -> cmd then type ipconfig /all. I have these two lines under my main lan connection:

Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 11 December 2008 23:54:29
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 19 January 2038 03:14:07

That means ill get a new ip address on the 19 jan 2038 unless i unplug or otherwise fuck up my computer like it did on the 11th it seems :S but meh.

Your isp also keeps records of which computer had what ip for years :D.

Holkeye

Why would you even want to change it? It would void all of your ports.

Holkeye

Yes it would. You open ports in your router for a specific IP. If you change it, then you have to change the IP in those opened ports.

Which IP is he talking about. .-.

CartoonFan

The one that websites use to IP ban you. I'd normally just use a proxy, but some websites have protection against certain proxies, like 4chan. (No, I wasn't banned from 4chan.)

I was banned for the crime of disagreeing with the admin, on a rather insignificant matter, in an email conversation. A conversation that didn't even take place on website territory. Now what kind of place eliminates its citizens just for disagreeing? :aryan:

So in other words, for once it was NOT me who was being the whiny bitch who couldn't stand being around people with different viewpoints. It was actually somebody else this time. Normally I'd leave that closed-minded freak to his own devices, but I have yet to learn what that website could have taught me, so I'm determined to get back in there.

Wait, so why do you want to be on the website if the admin's a douche.
