Leventhan recently posted an awesome logo that he made, and it gave me the idea to have a little contest, just for fun and bragging rights. Everyone has 1 week to create a logo for a fictional "company." In reality, this can be anything from a gaming development studio, a manufacturer of bottled water, to a band who needs a new logo. The next week's company is chosen by the previous week's winner. Follow these criteria:

- "company" name
- what it is
- slogan, if it applies

I'll start it off with something a bit simple.

- Freefall
- Manufacturer of skydiving equipment
- No slogan this time

Good luck, and you have until next Saturday night to post your entry~

My half-baked entry:

Can I edit it later on/submit another entry if I feel like it?

Portals - in VX!
$LOAD_PATH << Dir.getwd #You only need to call this once
Kernel.require("includable.rb") #replace includable.rb with the name of the file you want to load

#=============================================================================#
# # # ANTI DASH HACK    # # #
# # #   By AmIMeYet # # #
# # #    please credit me   # # #
#=============================================================================#
class Game_Player < Game_Character
  def dash?
return false if @move_route_forcing
return false if in_vehicle?
return true if Input.press?(Input::A) and $game_map.disable_dash?
  end
end

This snippet basically inverts the dashing.. allowing you to dash only when 'disable dashing' is checked.
This way, normal maps disable dashing, but the ones you set to disable actually allow dashing..

It should be placed where you normally place the scripts ('above main', in the materials section of the scripts window)..
Went for a retro/vintage/grunge look on this one:

Fallout did have some inspiration on it, but it's also my favourite style.

I like this idea. I need the practice anyways.
Simple is the way to go.

@Firerain: That's more like a signature. I wouldn't see that on the store now would I?

@AmIMeYet: That's a bit hard to read, and a logo has to capture the attention yet tell the viewer everything about the company in one glance.

I like Nouman's and NAMKCOR's so far. Although i think chewey might win this one.

Edit: Who chooses the winner? Is there a vote or do you (Holk) pick each winner?

It was supposed to be an old '40s/'50s look. Dobut they had skydiving back then, but it's my favourite style.

AmIMeYet's looks like a movie poster
Firerain's looks like a signature, not a logo

advice: a logo is text, perhaps a symbol.  Not a background and etc.
Logos are suppose to be catchy and easy to remember.
Typically a logo is a text with an image, or just text, or just an image.

it can still be grungy, but it's not a forum signature, you're designing a logo :P

the only ones that really look like logos are mine, Nouman's two, Chewey's, and Moo's
and they're all looking spiffy.  Though chewey's is just hilarious, and Nouman's look like they belong with a collection of Web 2.0 logos.  (no offense of course, they look lovely)  I'm not sure where to place Mr.Moo's though.  Maybe a display rack at a sporting goods store or something.

It's a logotype (the logo is the type!)
Not very sure with the first one.

EDIT:Still very raw.

I know, and I'm not saying to rip off something already made, or to feel constrained by formatting, but a logo isn't, for example, what firerain made.

I know, I'm just mixing it up. I like to see all kinds of different ideas.

right, and I agree that lots of ideas are great.
a grungy logo could look absolutely awesome, but a signature isn't a logo.

I was just clarifying what a 'logo' was.

Read this, guys : http://www.davidairey.com/5-vital-logo-design-tips/

This image is hilarious. Looks like something going up the butt in the second one.

Also, MrMoo's logo looks so much in the style of his avatar. XD
