:)

the second one is just wild!

it looks like it was taken by a camera with focus set on the door making the outer object blurry and unfocused <3
Watch out for: HaloOfTheSun

Zylos

You know, I'm going to have to dig up someone to be some competition for you. You're just too good.

Also, +rep for the awesomeness of the second picture.

garygill

Wow, thanks a lot.

You don't have to find me any competition, by the way; I have plenty.

DeathLock~

Both are great, I wonder how the monster will be responding its visitors.

garygill

Typically, the monster greets its visitors with a crushing head butt. =)

Grafikal

Here's some friendly criticism.

I'll work backwards lol.

The interior, is awesome. I feel like it's a bit more than concept. Also my take on art is process so I love seeing where artists are coming from and working to so it's nice to see a more fleshed and worked out, 'refined' even, background while the foreground more simple and started.

The beast is really neat. He appears more in the final stages. I don't think he feels quite so grounded yet. I feel like he appears lighter than he is. His back two legs appear grounded fine, it's the foremost that seem less grounded. I think it's a lot to do with lights and shadows, as light has that effect on things :/ .

Overall, it's amazing. As I'd expect from ya  ;)

garygill

Hey man, really appreciate the crits!

I agree, as stand alone pieces they do lack a lot.  I painted these more for the sake of presenting an idea and wasn't too concerned with how they looked as actual pieces.

Ocean

That's a very cool tribal interior thing. I think it's interesting that you did do the back more detailed and front blurry, what led you to make that kind of decision with the artwork?

Grafikal

It's not actually blurry per se. It's his process. What you see in the foreground is what his background did look like until he worked a more. Asides from the given effect, it's nice to see process.

garygill

Yep, grafikal is correct.  I usually refine the focal point first.  In this case, I just never got around to defining anything else.

Zeriab

Amazing garygill. I love them :3
Will you show us some pictures of the 3D versions when you are done with them?

Leventhan

Please do :3
Great job gary~

Be kind, everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

garygill

Yeah, I plan to show the 3D works when they're done.

strike

garygill

I call him shield-face. =)

Nessiah

Oh man it took me a while to load them but it was worth it  ;8
I hope to see the 3d version soon! They fee like matte painting <3

garygill

Thank you!  Both paintings were painted from scratch in Photoshop.  I posted a work in progress shot of the model that I'm currently working on.  A couple posts back.

Grafikal

Very talented. One thing I haven't learned yet was any 3D software.Very cool.

DeathLock~

Awesome, can't wait for the colored version of shield-face.

garygill

Pretty much done the modeling.  It's 5,996 polys in total. =)

Zendah

Wow, those are really cool!  I didn't know there was a 3D program for public use... :o
