I really like it when the strings get in, but it makes the flute less hearable

That's a very nice chord progression, and you realized it in the melody very well. It reminded me a little of Dire Docks from Mario 64 in the intro, but you got away from that pretty quick.

Sounds like it should be on Phantasy Star.
