This originally came from A13x
It has almost been a year and nobody has posted anything so i thought i would repost
This system that we want is like runescapes skills system so if there is a script or someone could make one that would be very helpful

skills - each with its own xp and levels and unlocks eg

Tree cutting
cut logs from trees that will grow back after like 1 hour of game play? but get like 2, 5 or 10 logs per tree or something and use them for other skills or just sell them

fletching
make bows/x-bows or arrows/bolts to use by cutting logs

alchemy
making potions, picking herbs, harvesting things like roots, seeds ect and making poisons for weapons

craft
making jewelery/tools/whatever else

traps
build traps form wood/stone or w/e and place them but... i dont know if it will work well or not. u could add another fight thing in eg: enemies wonder aimlessly around the map and if u get too close they run at u and fight u or fall in a trap or something

fishing
use a fishing rod to catch fish

cooking
cook fish, bread, meat ect

smithing
make weapons and armor and arrow heads ect

mining
a way to get ores for smithing

All of these are possible with some minor eventing. Since you haven't asked for any graphical component, then each of these skills could be managed with two variables, one for Experience and one for level. It's very very easy. All you need to do is make a gain Experience common event for each skill that adds the experience and then checks it the skill should level. Then you can achieve different effects by making conditional branches on level.

You broke the tag rule. Rules are stickied, so I won't take any excuse for missing them.

I know it sounds stupid, but it really helps others who may have the same question.

errm.. k

I deleted that post because it was the same as the first one. I set the tag for you so don't worry about that.

Anyway, I might rig up a demo to show how to do something like this with events.
