EPIC MONSTER DUNGEON EXPLORE 2
A while ago I played a game called
Epic Monster Dungeon Explore. It was a visual basic game where you clicked "attack" to kill stuff. Simple, fun, complex (stat-building was complex-ish, anyway). Yesterday, I decided to use the idea of fast-paced battling and grinding in a RMVX rpg made in three hours. I almost finished it in that time, but since I didn't quite make the deadline the game got an overhaul of polish, and later testing from Karsuman. The entire project was completed in less than two days.
Spell damage is done via multipliersEscape chance is set at 85%; a second attempt always succeedsThe entire game is played on a single map. Dungeon tiles spawn random encounters, wandering merchants and "chests." Visiting the town lets you rest and buy basic equipment/items. On-screen enemies are bosses that block advancement--sidebosses (bosses literally on the side of the map) block paths that let you skip various dungeon areas. It's kind of like a little wargame; build up your offense to take down a wall and continue. Really, it's just an entire RPG mushed into an hour and a half.
The game mapYOUR CHARACTERS HAVE STATSYou play as LEON and MARA, a hero and heroine destined to defeat EVILGOD. They each get to choose classes; both characters have four basic choices (Brute fighter, specialized fighter, warrior with healing sidedish, magetype) with some overlap and mix-up. MARA has a higher TP maximum and better chances at critical attacks; LEON has a higher HP maximum and his physical stats grow a little more quickly than MARA's. No pairing is terrible, and all testers have beat the game without a healer (though they certainly save HEALINGPOTION/PUREJUICE money).
The villains are... interesting characters. She really will. Trust me on this.EMDE2 is a short, fun romp through RPGland. You'll fight, kill, plunder and gain levels more quickly than most likely any other game except NPC Quest (by Hamumu). Download it here:
