Drift - <Quintessence TBV> Ending Theme
Performed by: Laura Shigihara
Composed/Lyrics by: Kan Gao (Reives)
(c) Quintessence - TBV and cannot be used, sorry.

This is my first composition that involves singing, and actually sang (beautifully)! Needless to say I was very excited when she sent me the sang tracks; I immediately sat for 4 hours mixing it, heheh.

Anyhow, enjoy! You can find Laura Shigihara's pop music site here:

Thanks for your time. :)

Wow.  :o

That was great. I think I almost cried. ('cept I'm not emo)

How'd you get her to sing it?
"The wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is Tiggers are wonderful things
Their tops are made out of rubber
Their bottoms are made out of springs

They’re bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy
Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!
But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is I’m the only one, I’m the only one."

Oh, you can't control the wanderings of a young mind.

By the way, the song sounds good, Reives. I like her voice.

Thanks guys. c: To be honest, what I helped her with was really trivial (I hosted some files for her since I really liked her compositions; back then I didn't even think that this was possible), so it was more or less just a charity from her that I am very grateful for.  :)

Mr. Reives, I'm simply dying to know: what mastering software do you use? Your musics have a kind of presence; that is to say, they don't sound tinny, as though they're being played out of a box.
Oh, it's so close, oh so close! The next one in December, maybe? Perhaps so...more than that, you say? Do tell!

Mm, I use Finale 2006 and Garritan Personal Orchestra VST. This particular song uses mostly just Finale 2006 default synths, minus the violin and cello from GPO. I suspect that the "non-tinyness" or whatnot might be somewhat due to the reverb, and in this case the voice helps a lot. :)

How odd. I normally wouldn't think to use something like Finale for VSTs, but then again, I suppose there's no reason why you couldn't. Still, that just makes what you do all the more impressive. I suppose I shall have to experiment with a few more reverb effects and see if I can't get something that doesn't pale in comparison to your works.

Yeah, the Finale synths aren't really that shiny, although some of them sound alright. I kinda like the guitar, although it's non-realistic.

*I've been thinking of revamping this song now that I have some actual sound libraries to work with. I have the singing tracks as distinct files, so it shouldn't be that hard. . . Might end up changing some instruments, though.
