I agree with Cloud being overrated. He's kind of stale and boring. Never wants to do anything, doesn't really care about anyone. Okay, I can see how that comes off as cool in some people's eyes, but they could've made him less boring by giving him a little more of a caring side, but only a little bit.

Sephiroth is a cool villain though. I find his sheer insanity appealing in the sort of player-to-character-way that all characters should have. Plus, his sword is pretty rad. I know, fanboy-ish, but I like fancy weapons.

The reason Cloud is popular is because FF7 was the first Final Fantasy game most people have played.

As for Sephiroth, I find him to be a much less intriguing clone of Kefka.
