Player Control Restriction...

Is there any way to restrict player control? What I'm trying to do is have the player asleep in bed and then have a small faerie cue in and wake him up. While the faerie is making it's way to the player, I need it to render the keyboard keys useless. The only time the player should use the keyboard is to press the enter key for text boxes. So, my question: is there a flag or switch that I could use to turn player control off and on when I need it for cutscenes and such?

Thanks,
~Choboru

Use preceed with movement.

Also make sure it's on Auto-Start.

Oh, I kind of forgot to mention that I am using RMXP:-\ I remember being able to use it when I used RM2k3 years ago, but now I just can't figure it out.

Yeah, Wait for Move's completion is the command in RMXP. The event should also be on autorun.

When it comes to events, don't fret. It applies for both 2k3 and XP. Except for that one time when I heard about how 2k3 has button input, but don't mind that.

This doesn't require a script, so I'm sending this over to RPG Maker Help.

Just listen to modern and moo, they know their way around events ;)

Why dopn't you just set up an auto-start event to take place after the hero is set to fall asleep.  just get the event to control everything and make it move the fairy, make message boxes and such.  that will stop movement, stop the menu and everything, but still allow hitting enter for text boxes / choices.  i use all my events like that and it works fine
