So whats so good about VX?  Stream lined options and better res?  Is it really a jump from XP and worth the 99$?

Hell no. No RPG Maker is worth $99. That's why we torrent things.

aakurtz

Borderline perfect answer.  Should people that want to start making a new game wait for this version or just continue using XP?  Is it that much of a jump?

Zylos

What exactly is different about VX compared to the other RPG makers?

Revo

Heh, I'm just gonna stick with RMXP. It's trusty, there's a lot of resources for it, and it's just cool.

Just as a side note: I'm actually going back in time. Started working with RM2k3 yesterday.  ;8 I'm a traditionalist.

Can't just yet. My building's stupid server is having problems tonight, and the page won't load.  :(

All this vague "lol! try it yourself, its dope! ::)" stuff worries me.  I just don't trust it.

Its good. You can use multiple tilesets in one room, you have auto-overlap so there's no worrying about layers, rtp is  way better than the last one and is pure eye-candy. Plus, it seems like (though the editable versions of this feature, like many others, are not implemented at the time of this release) you can manipulate battle backgrounds to sway and jiggle. Furthermore, framereate increased, fullscreen is much prettier and feels more like a videogame.

Other than that it is difficult to judge because at this point they havent implemented half of the features yet.

By the way, they've not yet updated any of the RTP sounds, and minimal RTP is included.

That help?

That's pretty quick, but I'll just wait for my boys to "get it".
Hahahahaha

Be kind, everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Will this new version be able to open files from XP?

Nope. That's what XP is for.

Also, it is quite awesome.  The mapping is excellent once you get used to it, and about the RTP, all I can say is wow. :]

I <3 the look of it so much more than XP, and so far I like the program in general a lot better.   Just wish I could read the events. XD

Zylos

I have just downloaded it, and I shall now give you this prophecy:

"In late february and early march, I foresee countless numbers of people trying to download keygens for this wonderful but $99 program."

;)

I had the exact same prophecy

I wonder though, this program doesn't have the same activation system XP had, and if it did the full RTP would be there. So like, if you give them 99 bux do they give you a CD or sth ?_?

Hm...we'll just have to wait for the program to officially be released to find out. But I can't really see them mailing out CD's to everyone who buys it as opposed to an activation code of some sort. It lowers their overall profit by using CD's.

Darico

CDs are only like 40p (80cents) so it isnt a huge loss, and think of the money they would make from all the people who have to buy it because they can't steal it lol. Obviously you have the shipping costs but they wont be amazingly high if shipping in bulk and the extra money will still cover it!

*"Download Complete"* Yay :D

Zylos

In that case, let us all join together in prayer:

"Please, oh God, don't let Enterbrain use CD's for this awesome program."

modern algebra

I am downloading. I wonder what the scripting will be like :P

Wow, in the trial you can't save your project.
