Burning to DvD

Is there a way to take a .avi and burn it to a DvD-Rewrite and use it on a DvD player.

DVD's are Mpeg files, so you would have to convert it first. Most dvd players don't play avi's. Also, most dvd players these days will play mpegs burned to a data disc, so if you convert it, and burn it raw, it should work.
