Is there anyway I can have my character go up to something and then get knocked back? I can't do it in a common event...

Set the trigger to player touch and go to Set Move Route.  Select player and pick how you want it, 1 step back, 1 step back, or move (whichever direction) x2.  I'm a little tired, so this probably doesn't make any sense.
