Making the player look as if it is waking up

How would I make it so that when the game starts, the player is asleep( I can do this, I just use the down graphic for my character), and then he wakes up, it shows a message, and once he is awake, the graphic shows the player standing up.

Well, you know there's this thing in the database called the actors tab. In it, you can edit the starting graphics by double clicking the picture of the actor and selecting a new one.
