i sure i'm not the only one who doesn't really like the chubby character sets so i was wondering what everyone thought of the sprite i'm working on right now. I have all the animations for the male and i'm almost done the female. However before i finish up i wanted to see what you all thought of the size. (and yes the sprite isn't shaded or anything it's still a work in progress.

:)

it looks very cool. but isn't it too big? (tall) how does it look next to a door? also using one of these will mean we cannot use any other rtp charsets including normal people since it would look weird. xD
hopefull we can get a lot of these.  ::)

nice work.  ;D

Chibi FTW!

but anyway, it looks good, but you would definetally need to mess with door dimensions

i wasn't planning on using default graphics anyway~! I made all my own chipsets when working with rm2k so i'll make all my own with xp too. The really cartoony style never really suited my game.

Crikey... how many tilesets are you going to make? It'll take a long time...

I belive it's alright, though I'd prefer making some more flexibility in the sprite, it looks a bit like a puppet falling down freely. Hmmm, how should I explain it..to me it appears as if a watcher is looking at it from the upper center angle but a bit more towards the center of the head so the image goes into narrow continua to the legs. Lowering the angle towards yourself the body would balance.

To tell the truth though, I loved Kaiser Ragnarok style characters, too bad no one is making them as much as they do these one. Kaiser was making a massive chipset, though, but I don't remember anyone seeing him for a longer time.

What you want to do to save time is get Posar... Make a model and set up camera's for each angle of the person that way you will get Fantastic looking sprites, and all you needs do then is add different style clothes... Making Battlers too would be piss easy !!!

Making the Buildings you could get Call of duty and use the Editor program to make 3D houses and land masses... You could make a whole game in 3D using a 2D maker...

Just an idea... I am going to try and do this one day, when I have a good enough PC...

Technically you can also use the Morrowind editor, find a precise angle and screenshot everything. A real fantasy thing can then be edited into a 2D RPG. Who favors, be my guest... XD
