How do I make enemies randomly appear (like for battle)?

Which maker?

On RM XP theres a map setting, meaning you have to adjust the enemy encounter on each map. Also the lower the number the more encounters. If I remeber right the number is on average how many steps it takes for an encounter.

Also, right click on a map and you can set the encouter rate and what music to play.

If it's 2k3 or something ignore what I just said.

it's actually done the exact same way as SBGX explained it. Just right-click and select which enemies you want to be in that map.
