Events w/o Hero

Is it possible for two different events, if they were to contact each other, for stuff to happen?  As in the 'Hero' is not involved?

For example, two events/townspeople are running around randomly, but if they were to bump into each other, they both change sprites to people who've fallen down, and a sound effect is heard

I've been fooling around on 2k3 and it doesn't look possible with random movement. There's a solution to this and it can be made to look random but it would require a lot of work.

First thing is to make a custom path for the NPC to follow ( you select it under 'movement type' and it's called custom pattern, under that is a button to define custom path ), enter a path that appears to be random and have it cooperate to meet up with another controlled NPC, when the two collide put in the custom pattern to change their graphics to the fallen position and to play a sound effect as well, also have it activate a switch if you want them to say separate things before and after the fall. Make sure you un-select the loop option at the bottom of the movement page.

This in itself will not look random if it's in a town that is often visited, so what you do is have a random switch generator ( ahh, you can use the time option or others in the precondition list at the top of the event to make a random amount of events to be randomly picked ) and create two identical NPCs. One NPC is the one that is on the controlled route, the other is on random. Have a switch on the random NPC that makes the NPC not appear if the switch is on, then have the controlled NPC turn on that switch if it is activated so that both NPCs aren't on screen at the same time. On the exit tile reset the switches along with the teleport command.

This can be done with a variety of different NPCs to make the illusion that they are randomly doing this.

This is for 2k3 and I'm sure there are much easier ways to do this on XP. Also, there may be an easier way to do this on 2k3 as well.

@nightwolf: Not that I can see. They have if event collides with hero. There's no need for it to happen with another event as all the things that it could do are really are quite minor. Excluding small things like that^, events with NPCs who interact happen with commands, theres no need as you control NPCs and know when they collide so what's the point in adding "when event hits event". It would be useful, but not in many situations.

But fuck, I may be wrong. I can't see it but there's a bit I don't know about 2k3.

You can easily use the "Scroll Map", the "Move event" command and set the player's opacity to 0 for the hero (Also in "Move event"). Works for both RM.

Use an parellel process event to initiate everything and an auto-start for the actual cutscene. And you actually don't need random movement, it might mess up the cutscene sometimes. i.e. what if the NPCs go out of the screen? =/
