I am not sure, but do you not have the opposite seasons to the otherside of the world, thus your summer is our winter?

I don't know that was something i heard a while ago, but right now, it is just coming into spring, that time when the winds are bitterly cold.

Actually, this website from the Australian Government leans to the other side of the argument, that it may actually have been cooler in Australia in 2006, while 2005 was the hottest year on record. 2006, is the ninth hottest.

Sorry Ataraixyray I agree with ^, this summer in Oz has been pleasantly cool...

Global warming? Well if we hadn't stoped the space exploration so much we could have been Terraforming Mars by now... Fuck Earth.. We need a new planet.

The Big Melt, it is quite topical, especially with Stephen Hawkings coming in on the debate.

In reference to Deliciously_Saucy, I think we have a new Intelligent Debate.

Personally, I'm worried about the Great Barrier Reef and the future temperatures we will live in. Even though I tried my best, it was hard not using resources that contribute, which technically is modern technology.

Global Warming does exist, but Al Gore is using it as a political statement to get people to like him and maybe a campaign.
They say that it is caused by Human carbon dioxide, but we only make up like a tiny percent of the carbon dioxide on this planet, and it is natural (cd).

I think that Global warming is natural thing that happens, scientists that believe that it's man-made, in very rare cases will they come out and talk to scientists that think global warming is natural. You know what puts of the most amount of carbon dioxide? Take a wild guess and call Gore stupid:

Spoiler for:
The ocean. If we wanted to stop Global Warming, then why not do the smart thing instead of another Hali's Comet. Drain the Ocean, while we're at it, why not fill death valley and make a lake!

I think that the Earth naturally get warming and colder. Al Gore put together a chart of drops and raises of temperature, but didn't add the date, just the temperature.

I think it could be leading up to an Ice Age, all over again.

You know him and the companies he supports wont let these African tribes use the coal and gas around them, so they have to use this wood, which when burned, the smoke is toxic. Or something like that, but enough of the smoke and it will kill you. Al says that says that these women and their children can't use gas or coal because it'll help make global warming worse. That truly is a sick man.

I lived on the Canadian border for most of my life, and I used to take day trips with my family over to canada to but like chinese, greek, italian stuff for like seasonings and stuff. And you're totally right, there are tons of oil wells there too. And some how we got into this whole Oil fight... But that's off subject. Sorry.

I read an article in national geographics were that it's not at all how we think it is today, it's just that the earth is making it's way closer to the sun very often but in very tiny steps I guess...

So, I think that Global Warming is natural, and that it's just know been shouted out because of politics. And know, if you say you're against big scary GLobal Warming, people must now crucify you.

Way to resurrect a dead thread. Three months dead, at that. But since its back, I'll give my view.

There's no way that humans are capable of judging global warming, because we haven't been on the planet long enough to accurately gauge massive climate fluctuations. Who's to say that in the big picture, this kind of behavior isn't the norm? Our technology on the subject only goes back so far into the past. Before that, theres no data.

I agree. Al Gore has only the newer ages as proof. I really think he's just trying to work up his name some next election he might run.

I've got this book, State of Fear, and it provides untold amounts of how global warming isn't real, and it is all proboboble, such as scientists who need grant money to keep up their Bentleys. Why can't it be a climate shift? Earth wobbles, everyone knows that, it can affect how close one place is to the sun. Why was there an Ice Age? Wobbling. As far as images goes, I haven't seen any, and like hippies saying the lunar landing was in a studio in California, or porn images of Hayden Panettiere, pictures can be edited.

The Sahara desert is twice as large as it was just 100 years ago (I think...it's something like that) expanding every year. Rain fall is slowly decreasing and forest fire is on an increasing number with increasing catastrophe.

The Ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising, the average temperature of the world has gone up at least a degree, and CO2 levels are at least 10 times higher than seventy years ago...believe it or not...

(Because movies never lie!)  ;D

No, I will not get the movie, he really has no proof of anything he is saying. The world cycles, and didn't you just read the above posts? I forgot where, but near where I used to live in NY, there was a town that got 11 feet of snow. Global Warming wasn't fast enough for new york and I don't think it ever will be. Also, C02 is made byt not only us, but also the ocean, volcanoes, planets, animals. Everything (basically) gives off C02, Al Gore is just a nut with an opinion that will get him elected next term (after 08) if he keeps this and says he can fix C02.

Or It's So Inconvenient that I'm not the President. It's all a political movement, and the world is getting closer to the sun, and I think that plays a huge role in what you're trying to say. Although, I don't think it's so, there's is more proof to date that the world is just in a cycle and will stop sooner or later. Also, what about the history of dinosaurs and the ice age? You have to go back more than just a few Ice Samples, because that's what he bases his truth off of.
He really needs to give this whole thing up, he's destroying the world. We aren't he is.

And if we are the main source, what are we supposed to do? Kill our selves next time we hear about a comet coming down to earth? He has to shut up some time or another. And once this political movement is over, the world is going to be on the diet craze again.

Someone needs to watch it rather than just give an opinion about it having never seen it.

Forest fires are a good thing yes...in small amounts...

Most of the data was collected from American, British, Chinese, Indian and Australian sources...some data was even collected on some of the remotest islands in the world...yeah those in the middle of the pacific. Showing that Carbon levels have risen.

Watch it first, then comment, then again, knowing Holkeye...he'll probably say: I've already seen it, didn't actually show any evidence at all no I prefer to believe the big multinational corporations who are polluting the world. (or something to that effect)

Global warming doesn't affect just one city. Or has no one realized that the fluctuations in the weather is getting more dramatic lately. Record number of hurricanes in the past few years, hitting places where they aren't supposed to hit i.e. new orleans.

He wasn't just talking about Co2. He talked about many things. Volcanoes however are natural. We are different, we concentrate thousands of trees, dig up coal and burn them all over the world.

England used to have snow drifts...the last time I saw any decent snow in England was 1996 a few inches. (I did mean a few feet when I talk about drifts) It has dry spots over Manchester for crying out loud. The water around the south coast of england has risen by 3 degree's.

Just because he only shows just a few ice samples doesn't mean he's not taken many. Most people who work with glaciers will tell you they aren't supposed to recede as fast as they are.

Well i'd rather believe in Stephen Hawkin's theories than pub rumours if that's what you're trying to get at, go listen to some of his environmental debates and boy does he have some.

We blanket the world in CO2...we die. Plants don't, but we do. Have you ever looked on the data that was collected from Venus. The CO2 levels and poison levels are so high it is hotter than mercury.

Do you think Gore cuts down on how much energy he uses? Have you seen the size of the house he lives in, the fancy cars etc...the fact is more than half of the energy he uses is considered environmentally friendly, by people like you, him, her, me etc. Renewable sources I'm talking about.

It's not about killing ourselves, it's not about restricting ourselves, it's about changing the way we live in order to not only be more efficient, but to take care of the environment of which we live in.

There's litter all around the streets you live in, graffiti up the walls, some horrid smell from the local bar and pollution coming down the alley ways from the main high streets and the petrol fumes. What do you do if you have the money...you move to somewhere better....yeah that's where terraforming comes in. Looking after our planet now saves us time in the future (and we get to live in a nicer more friendly environment) who doesn't like squirrels, or hedgehogs, the odd deer running across some field or other...the fox chasing that rabbit...sorry I really must stop looking outside.

Those who help don't shut up...those who shut up are weak. Heck he must be the only politician with Green Peace backing him. (they don't tend to back political movements) Next time we hear about a large comet coming down we should fight back and nuke it. It's called fighting back ....and fighting back against that which you cannot see.

The ice age comes back every so often...and granted we're over due...but that's most likely because we've warmed up the gulf stream...that thing that keeps the planet warm. The ocean currents. (That's the reason why I think that Global Warming should actually be Global Freezing)

Even if he is talking a load of bullshit, i'd rather be safe than sorry.

My god, please tell me you're joking...  :a:

Ok, We, as humans are supposed to advance in technology and gain more knowledge, or else we wouldn't be doing this stuff in the first place, after we know what we did, and if it's been done and have no reason to go back, we don't go back. Well, sort of.

Humans give off tiny percent of C02 compared to the oceans, that other stuff, burning wood etc, was meant to be burned, it may not be good, but it was sure as hell meant to be.
I don't have to watch the movie, I research, I love to research, my favorite subject is Science and did a more than half the book which was supposed to last a year in one month, I'm sorry if I seem like I'm bragging, because I don't mean to. (I hate it when people say stuff like that, like I don't mean to be... so sorry for saying it)

I don't trust Al Gore, and I think people should base their own opinions from things they know to date, not what people want to base your opinion off of...I think people should do more research and more thinking than watching movies...
