He had loads of them, and Iraq seemed to want him pretty badly... One of his doubles may have given his life for Saddams if his family got paid off...

So why would the US government allow a double to be executed instead of the actual man?

Reason I say this is Saddam was so Brash and loud throught court, yet at the execution he said nothing he kept his mouth closed, his teeth or voice could have given away his true identity...

1) He was praying before he was executed and
2) No shit he was quiet, he was about to be hanged

They were executing Saddam Hussein, not some ordinary criminal.

His head should have been covered before the Nuse was placed around his neck with a hood...

He asked for the covering to be removed.

There should have been only one executioner appoint by the court, not a gang of guys... there should have been a police esscort... (this was according to a news report on ITV prior to his death, on how it would take place)

That was the police. They had to protect their identity because, for some strange reason, they were afraid of what might happen to them or their family if people knew that they were involved in Saddam Hussein's execution. In fact, regular Iraqi police wear masks as well for the same reason.

Here's How the procedure should have gone - Hanging Procedure

Additionally, prior to an execution, the condemned offender's file is reviewed to determine if there are any unusual characteristics the offender possesses that might warrant deviation from field instructions on hanging. A physical examination and measuring process is conducted to assure almost instant death and a minimum of bruising. If careful measuring and planning is not done, strangulation, obstructed blood flow, or beheading could result. At the appropriate time on execution day, the inmate, in restraints, is escorted to the gallows area and is placed standing over a hinged trap door from which the offender will be dropped. Following the offender's last statement, a hood is placed over the offender's head. Restraints are also applied. If the offender refuses to stand or cannot stand, he is placed on a collapse board. A determination of the proper amount of the drop of the condemned offender through the trap door is calculated using a standard military execution chart for hanging. The "drop" must be based on the prisoner's weight, to deliver 1260 foot_pounds of force to the neck. The noose is then placed snugly around the convict's neck, behind his or her left ear, which will cause the neck to snap. The trap door then opens, and the convict drops. If properly done, death is caused by dislocation of the third and fourth cervical vertebrae, or by asphyxiation. A button mechanically releases the trap door and escorts then move to the lower floor location to assist in the removal of the offender's body.

What are you trying to say? Nothing I saw in the video seems to have contradicted that procedure except for the hood part.

And the execution was poorly done. It just shows how uncivilized those monsters really are. The man had dignity and grace and took his sentence very well even though they were mocking him..

Sure the guy killed a few people but it doesn't mean he's not a great man. No ordinary person could accomplish what he did, it takes something else.

The same thing is with Saddam. I mean, you have to be a genius to make and entire nation love you like that. Even if most of them are forced, the main thing is that he has an army behind his back that REALLY loves him. But there is one thing all dictators of the past have in common: They were beaten. The main thing I find odd is the Court should have appointed ONE exercutioner... there was a fair few more than 1 at the stand... And the person filming was a Goverment official... Why was it so convinently taped... the Video was done like the Camera was unrestricted, no dodgy shots etc... all done pretty well, surely those appointed to put him to death would have noticed, stopped proceedings and taken the Camera... May be they want you to think he is dead so they can tourture him... Not sure...

Okay, you seem to be ignoring the fact that the man being executed was Saddam Hussein and not some random prisoner. You are also ignoring the fact that this was done b an unprofessional police force in a third world country.

If the true Saddam was hanged I feel they did the right thing, he should have been put to death, But I think he should not have been hanged alone... Bush should have been up there also, for the amount of innocent people killed in bombings and for the many pointless deaths of US troops... Oh and the Fact he is making ILLEAGLE BIO WEAPONS... You know REAL WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION... like all those found made by Saddam in Iraq... oh hold on none had been found in Iraq, and the main aim was to remove the threat against the world and the American way of life of living in terror, not to liberate his people, that was a bonus...

You do know that Saddam is now being hailed as a Marter... As many do feel he was wrongly killed... I think he was a very sick in the head kind of guy, but his countries value of life is much lower, you can kill some one and pay the police to turn a blind eye if your rich enough... Stoning and public executions are common place... Some even aired on day time TV... Not saying what Saddam done is right, but his country was very different and will remain very different for many a year to come, and I doubt a new leader will be much better...

The appointed new leader has already stepped down... I wouldn't be suprised if the terrorist cells within Iraq don't end up running the country (the Terrorist cell that competes with the Tailiban, I can't remember their factions name I think will be the most likely and should that happen they will prey on the public in a mass campogn of hate towards the USA)... I think right now Bush is a little stuck as to what to do in the Iraq conflict...

We will see what happens in the next few months and see what sort of fall does happen once the US troops are withdrawn, then we will see what a difference killing Saddam has made to Iraq... I doubt they will have another poll to elect a new leader without US troops there... So I guess the person who is the mostpower-full will take the stand...

Saddam's Hench men are next to face the courts... Do you think they will be hanged ?

I think they will if they are handed over to the Iraq officials like Saddam...

Some-thing I have always wondered, all the soilders got handed a decks of cards showing all the most wanted dudes in Iraq and got told should they find them they will be Awarded... the Regiments that found them have they got almost a celeb like status now, did they get any awards etc... And did all those featured on the cards get killed or captured, how many are at large still...

I don't buy in to conspiracy theories and all that, (thought they are interesting reads, if you have the time,) but there are a number of things that point to the person in the video being one of saddam's doubles. For instance, the fact that his wife and mistress both said that it wasnt saddam that the government had in custody, rather one of the lookalikes. Also the small fact that saddam's teeth were nearly perfectly aligned in older photos and videos of him, yet the person they show in captivity has misaligned, crooked teeth. I'm not saying that I don't believe it was him that was executed, I'm only saying that there are many ways for the government to cloud your perception of things that are happening in the world.
