Hey! I'm really knew to this (rpg maker xp) but I think I've got the hang of it pretty nicely. I was up most of last night making the first two maps of my game. I love to make little comments and cutscenes so I didn't get any further. Everything went as smooth as can be expected the first time you use a software but then all hell broke loose. (I don't know about hell but please just keep reading)
The game starts off with knocking on the door and the hero gets up, shouts that he's been locked in by his mom, can't hear what that other person says, picks up a letter the other one pushes in under the door and walks over to the table to start reading it. Fine so far. Works nicely.
The first problem was that when he went to room #2 (which you can only do after a series of events and talking) and then walked back into room #1 that first cutscene restarted. When I finally got rid of that (thanks to Zxmelee) the character froze up for two seconds when walking back into room #1 and then walked back out to room #2. I fiddled around some more and then managed to get the whole game to crash when walking back into room #1.
Now I've made it even worse. Now the game crashes as he walks up to the door, right before the envelope is pushed under the door.
And I should mention that it's not all of the rpg maker software that crashes, just the test game window.
Any ideas anyone? Anyone feel like being mr or mrs rpg maker genius who wants to test my game to see where the problem is? Because I sure can't.
I've tried both local switches and variable preconditions to stop the first scene to be restarted when entering room #1, maybe there's some clash between them that causes this..?
I dunno.. I hope you do..
