Download here: http://files.filefront.com/Quintessence_Project___Inorar/;6463265;;/fileinfo.html
(If an ad appears, click "continue to file front")

Features:
-Intro (with a few glitch fixes from the first intro demo)
-Korbin Village's maps, includes 18 exterior and interior maps combined.
-Some interactivity in the maps, but final stage of interaction has not been completed.
-Environment change system to test through morning/day/evening/night/rain/storm. Done through items. Both interior and exterior settings will be adjusted automatically to each environment.

Downloading, playing now. I'll edit this post with more info.

EDIT: Wow, I can't belive things could get better...But they have! I can't wait for battles in this game, it'll be great.

Reives

Heheh, thanks. The battle system doesn't really have that much of a spark to it though, just using the standard RTAB system with Cogwheel addons at the moment. Although I am trying to put in some more creative skills than just whack-whack-dead.

nevfx

Yep, remember if you need me to test anything PM me.

HowlingWinds

I remember playing the demo befor the forums went down. It was awsome! My friend got hooked on it too!

Reives

Thanks Howling.

Sorry for the lack of update for the recent bit. I am currently working on the actual progression of the game's first chapter now (re-making, rather). Trying to pay more attention to details and dialogues this time, especially.

Also I am working on an event constructed custom action battle system. I will release a primary staged demo for that soon~

Liv

Omg, this is just amazing!  :o

Wow. Keep up the good work!

Lord Dante

I remember the demo of this, and kept wondering where the game was...

Lol.

Im DEFINATLEY playing this when i have more time. I loved the theatrics.

edit:

wait, nevermind, that was a similar game XD

anyways, this looks really great to, especially the mapping.

Review Time!!!! Ok ok so bad news im ushally a harsh reviewer good news theres not much to be harsh about so ill start with the bad stuff seeing as its minimal to none.

Bad-
Out of all of your maps I only saw one single flaw the whole time. The house next to the apple orchid has a bible book inside the desk with its head sticking outside the desk instead of the whole bible being on the desk.

Good-
Just about everything that makes a good walk-around demo is found, you have great maps a few easter egg items (laughs at the firey sword of world destruction) and nice music. IM hoping the power to change from day to night to storm to ect will play an actuall role during the game because that would be frekin sweet!

Thats about all i have to say for now keep up the superb work on your game! Cant wait to see how the actuall gameplay will span out, but I sure am excited!

Wow, surprised you actually found that  :P

Well, I've been dead for a few months now. This game is still progressing but at an ever-slowly pace; and it's exam period at the moment. It may or may not be completed, but either way I will try to make it as enjoyable as possible while it lasts.

And Lord Dante; it *might* be the old version of this that you might've been thinking about. I had a 3-hours ish demo a while back for this project, then decided to renew it from scratch for better quality.

This game is really good, I like the way you did the opening scene.

.:Pyroken Serafoculus:.

This game is one of the best examples of presentation I've seen. The way you synchronize your music and video is amazing. And I really love the fighting scene; it must be hard to simulate one out of battle. I'm definitely watching this, mainly because I am picking up tips from it, like you intended.

MAJOR UPDATES INCOMING:

Custom Battle System Incoming!!!(Sneak-peek Screenshots below)
Actually, after receiving positive feedback about the 'cinematic' battle scenes during the intro 'music video' between Reiv and the soldiers in the prison, and the fighting scene between the two sisters in the intro cut scene; the battle system for the game will be almost identical to those cutscenes in terms of style.

I am about 90% done the said battle system. The CBS itself is100% event-created, although I use the HP/Mana bar display script to show them overhead. The CBS is fully live-action based and requires some reflexes and strategies, with a refreshing new aspect of 'wind direction' (more on it when demo comes out).

It also contains features such as Area of Effect attacks, ranged attacks, teleportation and hopefully some other refreshing components as I think of them.

It is about the most frustrating event system I've ever made; utilizing over 40 variables and 20 switches, distributed among 8ish parallel processing events. On my laptop, it doesn't seem to lag at all (which I expected it would), with a FPS of 30-40.

Expect the demo of the battle system be out in 3 days or so. I have a comp sci exam tonight at 7:00. :x

Mean while, here are some screenshots:

About the actual game itself:

Just because I haven't updated in a long time, does not mean that it's dead! A major update demo is expected to be coming within the next week or so, including the actual game play of progression of chapter 1, 'A familliar stranger' and major improvement from the current intro + map demo. I will also be switching the current facesets used; as I have made a bit over 100 custom face sets for the current 8 notable characters (with different expressions and etc.), because Quintessence TBV is a story-oriented RPG, and good character emotion reaching capacity is important to reach-out to the player.

That's it for now. My last exam for the year is to be over on this saturday; so I will start bringing together the real update and the new demo then.

Sorry for the long months of apparent idling. But I hope it'll be worth it when I get this up in the next week or so.  :)

And lastly, a screenshot from a new atmospheric extra features scene; of the 'live performance' harmonica + guitar duo of the main theme by Reivier and Lunair:

Reives

And it's up~! See first post for more info and CBS beta dl link.

(P.S. I just realized that you can't save. Oh well, the tutorial's pretty fast to get through if you die at boss to try again.)

Forty

OMG, it looks amazing, unfornutaly, I can't download at school or at home (I'm grounded)
It looks really freakin amazing though.

Reives

Well, this is it. I rushed it due to the PoTM thing's deadline.

So check the first post, play the Chapter 1, 'A Familliar Stranger'. And if you think it's worth it; vote for Quintessence in http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,16083.0.html before May 2nd!

Even if it's not worthy of it, I am confident to say that it's still worth a play.

You have a great talent for storytelling! You also have a knack for pacing. This is one of the very few demos that I have actually played in its entirety in one sitting. Your dialogue is believable and also fits each character. I love the sparring between Sal and her brother. The old guy's comment about the "wax" even made me laugh out loud.

I'm looking forward to your next installment. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who reads this.

Thanks, Lunarea!

Reives

Thanks! Someone with your talent saying it means a lot to me. :)

P.S. Although, Salory is Vikon's wife, not sister. :D Their hair colors' similarity might be confusing.

alexia

Okay, that's what I thought at first but then I swore that later in the demo, someone said they were brother and sister. It was when they were all sitting around the table and Vikon was bragging. Is Sal someone else's sister?

Thanks, Lunarea!

Falcon

I think Sal is Reiver's wife's sister.

The demo was absolutely wonderful, the storytelling was superb.

Also, you have an error, try bringing up the menu while Sal and Vikon are in the party, I got a file not found error.

Reives

Yep, Sal is Reiv's wife's sister, who is also Vikon's wife. (Marriage = arranged in the setting)

And ah, thanks for the error notice Falcon, I think I know what caused it and am going to fix it now. :)

Edit: Just to clarify, does the error occur when you highlight Salory on character info menu? That's where the error pops up on mine. And sorry for the inconvinience. :-X Hope you saved.

Edit2: I uploaded the file again, this time with that error fixed, it is now in place of the old dl link.
