This is Marc's preferred environment. He hacked the source code for DWM and came up with his own modified version that behaves more to his liking, so it's extremely comfortable to him. For the rest of us, it's... a bit daunting (to say the least).

He also seems to prefer 1280x800 instead of 1600x900 for some odd reason.

[spoiler=Fedora Core 16 (GNOME Shell)]
This is what I (Eden) and most of the rest of us use on a daily basis. It's Fedora Core 16 with a slightly tweaked GNOME Shell. We use this for pretty much everything except gaming and RPG Maker (technically, RPG Maker runs, but it's dreadfully slow using the RGSS2 Player in WINE). The busy shot shows me writing some design documentation for one of the two RMVX games we're working on.

That's the new 'start menu'.  It's still there, but the desktop also exists.

It's still technically there.

I don't see it.

I said technically, because that corner of the screen allows you to go to the start menu, but there's not a button, it's a hot-corner for the mouse now.
