Cool.

@fullmetalboy: We have three judges now, and I think that should be enough to judge fairly. If we lose another judge I'll contact you.

Well, you have until May 15, you still have plenty of time.

EDIT:

Hrrrmmm... I was thinking about how the judging was going to be done. This is directed primarily at judges, but contestants can have input as well. Anyway, when we judge should we make a separate topic for each contestant and put them in the Review Section? That way, we could easily link a review to the finished games, and it'd work out nicely I think. What do you guys think? I know we should put the scores, etc... in this topic too, but I think it might be a good idea as these should end up being decent reviews... Well give me some input.

Also, does anyone know if Irockman had a badge made up yet? I guess I can make one if he didn't ... any design ideas?  ;D

Snailer

alright if its 15 may i can finish it !

Thank you !

We may as well put up review posts / score posts in the reviews section. Then in here post the totals. Do we even know what we are judging on?

I would think the following categories:

Mapping: How nicely are the maps put together
Difficulty: How balanced is the game. Is it too easy, too hard? Does the difficulty subtract from the fun?
Fun: How enjoyabale the game is
Originality: Any unique systems? graphics? plot twists?
Story: How interesting is the story?
Overall: An amalgamation of the previous scores based on judge's preference. (I, for instance, value story and fun more than difficulty or originality, so if I give a 10 Story and Fun, and only a 3 for difficulty and originality, and a 5 for mapping, then the game will probably still get an 8 or 9 for overall even though doing an average would be (10+10+3+3+5)/5 = 31/5 = 6.2)

The overall score is what the final rating of the game would be. I think those are good criteria. You guys can suggest additional categories or suggest against the existing ones as you will.

Irock

I want to sign up for judge! ;D

EDIT: I sort of lost the special badge....we need a new one.

Alright, but only if you promise not to quit on us again.  :mex:

We've already received maia's entry so I will send it by PM. Also, did you make the badge for the winner? I don't mind doing it, but if it's already done... and my skillz are below average.

As a reminder to everyone: Deadline is May 15.

To judges: Any comments on the marking scheme? And did anyone have any trouble playing maia's game? It worked fine for me, but apparently some people have been having trouble with it.

:)

holy F*** =| I didnt know the date got moved again.

Lucky the date did get moved... otherwise there would be a whole one entry.

Don't you think that May 15th is a little too soon? It doesn't seem fair to move the date. That would sort of give Maia an advantage, since her entry is already submitted, and the other contestants already had a set date in mind.

Well, I guess Irockman has left RMRK so just send your contest submissions to me and I will distribute to other judges I guess. Due May 15.

April 18 is when I set it. I said it again on April 21 if they missed it the first time, and Snailer has responded positively. It's only an hour long game. You posted it on March 17, which means they've been given 2 months. The reason I moved it is because I think it's unfair to maia to give them an additional month when she finished her game with the original timeframe in mind. I will still accept late submissions, but the lateness will probably be reflected in my scoring. The other judges may treat them as they wish, but given two months, I feel that that is enough time to make a decent game. If you need an example, look at maia's entry. Outlaw City, by Anaryu, was made in two months. Dark Past was made in two weeks. I understand that some of the contestants are quite busy, and so maybe that is an unfair example, but with battles, it really isn't that hard to reach an hour.

That being said, if you don't make the deadline, don't be afraid to submit it (it will be accepted), but I will penalize you. The other judges may post their own policies for late submission, and I'd like it if they do, so it gives the contestants more of a frame work.

And as for giving Maia an advantage, I think we put her at a disadvantage by moving the date after she had already completed her game. I don't see how giving everyone but her an extra two weeks gives her any advantage.

With only a week away from the end of the competition... should I make my victory speech now?

No, but I felt like saying I was.

I had a stiff comment to make, but at the sake of being adored I'm not going to say it :-)

Say what you will. We're both pretty well liked people in the forums so it's not like it matters.
