Lol... Don't save it as .gif
Save it as .jpg instead.
That file type is better for that type of picture.
Right now it looks sucky. Lol
And link it offsite as well. So it doesn't resize it to make it worse. :P
is vista new or is it older than say for eg. xp?
It's the next version of windows and pro users hate it and it's still in beta and you get alot of people just installing vista skins on XP and saying the're on vista and they think it looks cool.
I use XP Pro SP2 ~
I use Xp, noob edition. It works out all right I guess, I haven't been unable to do anything....except MMORPGs, but thats no biggie I never really play 'em anyhow.

I have Windows on my main home computer -- it sucks
I also have an ubuntu linux box that crank helped me setup -- it owns
I think that i'm going to install damn small linux soon on this old laptop I have -- it also owns
i think windows XP is good lol :|
I agree, it does what it needs to. Better than my last OS anyhow...(98)
Meh, windows is fine. Most problems are caused by 3rd party drivers or software :/, and you don't see so many of these on other systems because they're nowhere as near as popular and so the error count is so much lower.
"Macs / Linux / etc don't get viruses!" - Nobody really botheres writing viruses for macs or linux :/
A windows user with some moderate sense doesn't get viruses. I don't use any anti-virus or adware scanner or anything of the like. All that protects me is my hardware firewall (though with perhaps the most common ports (80,25,21,8000) forwarded to me though) and my common sense.
Internet explorer, lol.
I see no advantage to using linux and most definately to using a mac.
its true no ones does write viruses for mac or linux because not many people do use those computers,i myself like macs :)
Okay, fess up. Who deleted my post?
Windows XP here.
I wish i was using Win 95... It was the best version of windows.
If you're going to use a pre-XP version I'd suggest go for Windows 2000 definately. or at least 98SE. 2000 Is miles better as for stability thanks to them switching to the NT kernel.
95 is definitely NOT the best version in terms of features and freedoms, but if that's your preference then so be it. It's definitely simpler than XP, I'll give you that.
XP is complex you say?
No, I said 95 was simpler.
HMMINTERESTING!
And I am fairly adept with either, and have difficulty telling the differece. Would you mind elaborating?
Yes.
Hmph.
Micro$hit Windoze XP with a Windoze CeMeNT boot screen.
my vista has had no virus or error at all. Playing elder scrolls, using the net, using object dock, nothing.
Am I supposed to be surprised that your computer is doing what you're telling it to do
no ive juast not had any problems with vista. thats kinda what i said.
I'm not making the jump to Vista just yet. My computer can barely handle XP, and with a dialup connection I'm hardly in any danger of getting hacked or something.
Where can I learn more of this...Vista?
Probably wikipedia.
I imagine lots of computer users who know what they're doing are going to stay on XP. Windows Vista has DRM built in from the ground up and they're trying to move away from the GDI method of drawing the screen (so basically any program that skins itself won't work on vista until it's updated for it).
Aero requires a hell of alot more CPU and RAM than say Windowblinds 5 / WindowFX emulating it.
Maybe once people start to release patches etc I'll try it out.
My computers pretty good i think. I also have good Directx (not that it matters) cos I bought a game, installed the dx and took it back. I dont like pc games that much.
I couldnt get SP2. A virus deleted a nessary(??) windows module.
Demon X uses Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition with a lovely Vista theme, plus Glass2k. My XP does everything Vista does now, so I will not be purchasing it. Eat that, Microsoft!
oooo ouch! media center! heard some bad stories of that.
Not everything is true...
MCE is great, although I admit I spend too much time developing to give a damn...
lol media center edition.
Also, um, it might do everything apart from the most important thing; work with DirectX 10?
to anyone who will buy vista

I'm thinking about testing out some free OSes, for the hell of it. Suggestions?
Well if you're after a flavour of linux, Ubuntu is the obvious choice.
Apart from that I wouldn't really recommend anything else. I mean, yeah you could get another free OS up and running, wow, but then you're not going to have much to do on it.
So you recommend Ubuntu? It's just that I have the CD somewhere in my spindle, but due to time shortage... hm... >_>
Kubuntu is very kool... lol
I installed xubuntu on my sis's old emachine (used myspace, said Ill pay 5$ to anyone with a rally old computer they keep in the garage) got around 5, put 2 OK ones out of the 5 computers (used parts) and BAM she got a computer, and I got a firewall....but later I used bearshare and got her 98...its better since she really had no clue on a linux machine.
oo if you were wondering what I ment by "i got myself a firewall"
http://www.smoothwall.org/
I still cant get it to do everything..
I primarily use Windows XP and SuSE 10.1 (Linux), but I also have on my machine Ubuntu 6.10, Mepis, Fedora Core 5, and some version of Mandriva.
Yeah...I know, I gotta lot of Linux Os's Dual booted on one computer. Probably cause I went through this stage of wanting to try out every single distro of linux, and because I have two harddrives...
Anyways, I would reccomend either Ubuntu or SuSE 10 or 10.1 to someone who hasn't used Linux before. SuSE is great for easily configuring and installing, and ubuntu is great with everything, once you get passed the slightly steep (but fun ;D) learning curve.
on 1 of my computers which is like a "family" computer i have WinXP MCE, and on the other computer I use unix
I use XP.

The threat of viruses is higly bloated block javascript dont download from somewhere that looks like a myspace page and all .exes with your name/email in them are viruses.
So in short windows xp + customizable applications that are not resource hungry = WIN!

I second this. Never had a virus problem :)
WINDOWS XP
i would say its the best, unless youre one of those that wants their PC to be as different as possible to the point of replacing XP with a less useful and rather pointless new OS.
or not, i havent decided on my opinion yet
Honestly, people who use vista 64 SOLELY in order to have 4 gigs of ram are.. stupid.
If you put 4 gigs of memory into your XP system, it will recognise around 3.3 to 3.5 gigs maybe, give or take a little (depends on various things including graphics card).
XP's base memory requirement is 128MB (or 64/96mb to push it), yet vista's is 1GB. Look at how much vista uses, just showing your goddamn desktop or to open notepad. It's insane.
So basically, any extra memory you get by having the extra from 3.3-3.5Gb in XP to 4GB in Vista is already stolen by the shitty bloated OS you're using. You have LESS memory available to you.
Vista 64 in order to use 4 gigs memory = ignorant/idiot.
If you're going to use that OS for more memory, at least use MORE than 4 gigs =x. But this is ignoring that even 2 gigs is more than enough for the vast majority of anything out there and more about bragging for your e-penis than for practicality.
There's a reason they're already hard at work on Vista's replacement, the same reason so very many people either choose to stay on XP, upgrade back to XP from vista, or insist on buying XP instead of vista :)
At least MS had the sense to listen to their customer base and increase the lifetime of XP in their product line till 2014.
i have 4 gigs on my XP rig and it says 3.9 which is not too far off, besides is always slightlly wrong.
i have vista and ive stripped it down on both my PCs i have it installed on.
i removed features like Superfetch and the like, stuff that isnt necessary for games PCs
YOu know I wish I still had a comp with windows 95, just for the LULZ.

Indeed. There is an "ultimate" in the name.
When get down to it, it's vista hence it's far from Ultimate.
