That is the old art style.
The new anime is a new anime, not a remake of the old anime.
The designs are taken from the original manga.

I was talking about the anime, but even the original manga didn't look that weird... .__.

I can tell it's based off of the manga, but the limbs just look awkward in the new anime, and the transformation animation doesn't do it justice. The waists really do look smaller, too. I think the number one difference is the faces, though. The new anime gives them really pointy chins. B(

Also, I noticed that Jupiter's hair does match in the new anime but brown hair is kewl. B( I guess I could grow to like that odd red-pink-brown.

On that note... When I was little, I first taught myself how to draw from Sailor Moon (both the manga and anime). :B

The manga had very "high fashion" sort of proportions. It works in the stills, but animated it just looks.... weird. Especially with how noticeably 3d they are.

Ugggh that dumb animation. .__. The older anime animation was adorable and I loved the 90's sparkly feel (lol is that a thing?) and music.

The art kinda looked silly originally in the older anime, but it got a lot prettier with the newer episodes.

Growing up, my favorite was Jupiter, but I quickly adored the outer scouts when they were introduced. *___* I liked Uranus because she was just as badass as Jupiter (tomboys are rad), but Neptune and Pluto are super pretty. ;~;

Awaaah I wanna watch Sailor Moon again! This is happening.
