Title: [VXA] Tileset Request/Brainstorm Subway
Post by: bluntsword on April 18, 2012, 02:15:54 PM
Yeah, it sounds like it won't work but I'm a little lost for ideas.

I have found the above tileset.  It looks very much like rpg maker 2000.  It looks decent just taken directly into vxa.

But only decent.

same image but doubled in size with little editing

[/spoiler]

Anyone care to offer up ideas on how to make this look better?

None really, the only issue seems to be the subway, but idk how to fix it

I would make the stripes on the train black and yellow then make the thing at the bottom blue instead of red(for first pic in spoiler), just my useless input..

Add some advertisements, trash cans, trash in a couple spots...then add people.

And bring the bottom platform closer to the train.  it looks like you have to jump down onto the tracks to get into the train.

Which of the two sizes looks better?  The smaller one looks a tad to small, while the large one looks a bit big and pixely.

I like the bigger one most.  You should use the original size, open it up in photoshop and increase it's size by 200% then erase all outlines.

Oh also when you do that, set it to the setting that will preserve hard edges and then just kind of re-draw some of the lines.  all of the colors and hard details are there to work with so it shouldn't be too hard :)

honestly, that upsized one fits the map better but it'll be GIANT compared to the vx sprites. maybe see how much bigger you can make it without it getting all pixelated. it probably doesn't need to be much bigger and then you could run two of them side by side with the tracks on the tileset too

Photoshop lessons.  This is that. I'll let you know how it goes.

Of course I could make it a picture and just use it like that. Might be middle ground?
