Hello I'm going to be created a game and am wondering what the majority of people would want to play

Aww, I feel so lonely up there, only 1 vote... Haha, anyway.

It doesn't matter too much what genre your game is as long as you can sell it. There are spectacular must-play games of all 4 of those genres, and quite frankly, most people will play anything with a new & exciting story and custom system. I wouldn't be too worried about what time period to set your game in. Just use what you're most comfortable with & people will come.

Just make a game that you like that you think others would like. It wouldn't hurt to make 4 games either? :D Jus sayin.

I'd disagree.
Make a game that you think YOU would like.

Sci-fi and Med/Fantasy are similar, just set in different time periods. Of the two, sci-fi would be harder because there is fewer resources for a good one, but a well made game with either one would grab a lot of attention. Survival horror, though easily one of my favorite to do, has been flooded an awful lot lately by people both good and bad. However, a well made one will still catch a lot of interest. A good mystery game (assuming you mean like a game where you solve a crime), has not been done yet to my knowledge. I myself have one partially underway, but am not likely to finish it any time soon, and would definitely be interested to see one made, provided you did good on it.

Long story short, I'd be interested in any sort of game as long as it's well done.

I'd like to see some games break the mold of RPG stereotypes. I think there are countless other settings that have been unexplored, and if done well, could be amazing. For example, The Colonial period in America, or Pre-Columbian South America. Another thing that I like to see in games is a sort of alternate history. One developer that did this well, but took a wide approach rather than go for specificity was Quintet, with the Soulblazer "series". I'm playing through the Ys series right now, and the whole point of the original Ys games was that magic and monsters were dependent on each other, and after both were gone, the world that we live in today was created. This is a simple, yet slightly tired concept, but it is still interesting none the less. The Lord of The Rings did the same thing, having the end of the series be "The Age Of Man", where other species were either destroyed or went into hiding.

Wait I'm going to do an abs but triying to decide. I was actually thinking about a game with egyptians and pyramids or greeks. I was thinking about these two because these both have diverse religions and my knowledge on these two subjects would help. What do you think. Also with the religions should I have the gods be real in some shape or form or should they just add to the culture.

I think having the actual god in the game would be pretty cool, but it could be tricky when the god actually appears.

Unless you have an awesome Ra or Osiris sprite laying around, I think I'd keep their true forms out of the game. It's neat having some sort of religion or mythology in the background of your game, though, and Tales of Symphonia did a good job with that. Only they took the whole Church of Martel thing to the next level, which I'll refrain from saying anything further on the off chance that someone playing that game at this very moment would have it spoiled for them.

Well I was thinking of possibly making sprites for gods but should I keep them a smaller size or should I leave them out all together because having them the actual size would make the game seem somewhat retarded. Also I was thinking about using the religions not for the main game but for sidequests. Although they would just be sidequests I am thinking about having them play a somewhat role in the ending, how does that sound

That'd work great, just as long as you build up religion among the game's people (They talk about it, interact with it, etc.), so it doesn't feel forced into the game.

Well I think sprite size for a god really doesn't matter. God's can be either tiny or giant.

I generally like the approach of researching history for use in your game. It doesn't necessarily need to take place in Ancient Egypt for example, but the game could be very inspired by it and the culture of the game could be based on something similar. I think ancient history is pretty interesting and if you are able to form a world that feels like you're in that setting instead of a typical RPG one, I think it'd be a nice game to play.

One thing I'd like to see personally is a Medieval RPG that feels Medieval, where the Castles are grand and based on real ones, rather than lolthroneroom and that's it.

I've always been a sucker for swords and magic, but am becoming more interested in games with mystery in them. You could always combine mystery into sci fi or medieval.

You know i was thinking about doing something like that were you have to come up with a big conclusion at the end and depending on this conclusion the ending is different also in a mystery i was thinking about having the protagonist be a villan i've always quite enjoyed games where you get to screw up the hero...

Anyway who agrees it's fun to be the villan

Also i'm probably spelling villan wrong ignore this please.
