Alright, it's been talked about on IRC all morning, people downloading and installing and patching and etc...  But no organization.  So, let's get this all sorted out.

simple.  Download the Ventrilo Client (NOT the server program, and connect to the server below.  You must select the proper version (either 32 or 64 bit, check your operating system to know which to select)  No Irocks Allowed.

HOW TO CONNECT:
Connect to hamachi, when you find out who is hosting, copy their address from the server readout. 
Go to 'join internet game' and select 'direct connect' from the buttons on the bottom
delete the listed IP and paste the one you copied from hamachi
press connect

REMINDER: Game didn't run past character creation at resolutions above 800x600 for me, and it crashed if I tried to skip the intro stuff as well, so 800x600 works.  might just be me, or might be vista overall.

I think everyone should play through the prologue at the academy first, by themselves, for a couple reasons.

1) free drops - armor, a free level, etc... might not be distributed through the WHOLE party, but just -one- person
2) you'll KNOW HOW TO PLAY so that when we actually DO start, you won't be asking LOL HOW DO I ATTACK?

this means just about everyone should be about lv3

The Multiplayer also rec recommends that the prologue be played solo, I believe, for the above reasons.

Wait, is the prolouge thing the "Prelude" for the campaign? Also, I don't get the thing about the username and password. Is it supposed to say it doesn't work and just skip ahead? :P Also, should we set the first name to our RMRK forum name and no last name ?_?

As long as people know who you are it doesn't matter. Basically no making a character named Razzifrus Higglebath because no one knows who the hell that is.

That's not going to happen. The number of leechers don't even matter, anyway. If anything, it helps you since they're uploading to you while they're downloading from the seeders.

I own it, so I wouldn't get that issue.

however if you both got the same key from the keygen, then you'd get that issue.

I installed it. You use the two install cd's and the play cd to install. It worked fine.


But I can't play it. I keeps asking me to insert the play cd, when it's already mounted.

You have to mount that cd to install. Why would it work when installing, but not when playing?

You need a cracked .exe to play without the cd.

The torrent was for version 1.10. there's no no-cd patch for that version.


...why is the torrent we downloaded so old?


I clicked update and updated once already, just like I was told to. Should I have the latest version of this game to run it, or will that cause problems?
It's a 450 mb download to update (a second time).


Also, I read that we weren't supposed to install the expansions, but there was a sarcastic smiley after it. So I'm not sure. Are we installing it or not?

I have shadows, it's a great expansion from what I remember, I'd suggest it. Lots of new stuff.

The update failed. Probably because it's 450 MB. It took me long enough to download the torrent.

This is too much trouble. 

oh my god, so I installed the expansions, which bumped me up to version 1.59

there's no patch for 1.59. There's patches for 1.0, 1.30's, 1.40's, and 1.60's, but nothing in the 1.50's.

This is retarded.


edit: Okay, I'm trying to update to the latest version, since the cd-check was removed after 1.66. Hopefully this will work...

grab the first patch off the patch listing if you're using vista, or just click 'update' on the launcher menu if you're not.

The game's working. I'll figure out the netplay crap later.
