Title: Making ranged weapons in Blizz's ABS?
Post by: ddgrimm on July 21, 2007, 02:29:42 PM
I'm making a game using Blizz's ABS, and I have just made my shooting a gun charaset, is there a way to make the weapons ranged, so I can kill from a distance, Blizzard hasn't put this in the PDF document that came with the script.

Also, how would I do ammo for the Guns? =D

I believe that that is a feature Blizz is planning to add, I do not think it currently exists :(

You could do ammo through events :)

If he is updating the Battle System, do you know when it will be done?

I don't know when. Ask him at www.chaosproject.co.nr

or use the one Becky provided

I would use that one you provided... BUT,

1. It's Spanish
2. You have to make a script for each weapon, skill, shield, etc.

Blizzards

1. It's English
2. It's one script for EVERYTHING.

well, ranged weapons are definitely planned, and chances are good that that version will be out before you release your game, and so you could probably continue making your game and bank on that.

I will wait because the topic on Chaos Project is still well, and I've just started my game.

Well, I've write a story, but I need to implement it.

Blizzards

Beckey's
1) err...Portuguese
2) makes it more easily organized, and makes it easier to add your own weapons and configurations etc...

Blizzards
1) yeah, can't argue with that
2) pretty much hard coded to be the way blizzard intended, kinda hard to do fancy stuff with it, unless you know some serious coding

not a slight on Blizz, making an ABS script isn't easy
the XAS_Hero ABS just seems like a better choice simply because of the customizability

I like the shake effect when you use spells on the XAS one, but I really feel comfortable using Blizz, and he's updating it, should be done sometime soon....

i need help on this two the instuction manual says:
3.5.1. "self.type"

In this method you can define which type your weapons will be. The options you have are:

0 - sword / axe / claws / unarmed / etc. (damages in close front)
1 - spear / lance (damages only in front)
2 - flail (distant weapon, does not damage close enemies, front)
3 - boomerang (returning projectile weapon, front)
4 - bow and arrow / gun / shuriken (non-returning projectile, NO consumption)
5 - bow and arrow / gun (non-returning projectile, consumes AMMUNITION)
      6 - shuriken (non-returning projectile, consumes ITSELF)

does anybody know what this means or where to input the info
