I know I just posted a request for a script but it turned out that I didn't need a script anyway.
I'd like to have a location that calls a shop of sorts in which you can temper weapons/armor. I would have certain items that increase the power of weapons by a certain amount, raise defenses of armor, etc. I also want to be able to add elemental power/resistances and status effects/resistances. Is this possible?
I'm not sure... if it is it might take a pretty good scripter...
obviously it cant be done with events :-[
ANYTHING can be done with events.
Its just that, in this case, the event would be 10,000+ lines long XD
exactly, why waste time on it.
It is possible, but would require a good eventer
Seeming as how i make looooooooooooooooooooooooooong events, i think it'd be possible. but dont ask me to make it, unless you're willing slap 100$ on the table.
I realize its possible to do with events. Theres two problems with that. Lets say I want 10 tempering items. 8 elemental addings, a poison, and a stun.
1. I want different combinations to be possible. Doing this without scripting would first require me to make 10x9x8x7x6x5x4x3x2 weapons for each weapon, armor, etc.
2. I would need events to check for what weapon of those you're using, and then give the right one with the next effect.
In other words, it would take several lifetimes.
I need a script which you use one of the 10 items on a weapon and it adds the effect to the weapon perminintly. Therefore, using the fire dust or whatever I end up calling it will add fire effect to the weapon, even if the weapon is unequipped and reequipped etc. I need it to then stack. If you use the thunder dust or whatever on it afterwards the weapon will then have fire and lightning effect.
congrats, you've got yerself a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong event.
Possible, but it would take too much time with events.
Maybe I'll look through a crafting script and see if this would be easy to do.
i look forward to a favorable reply. :) this will be very good for my game if its possible
Bump!
Anybody have any help to offer? Please :P

Please add me to your msn (Sporkincarnate @ live.nl) i think i have exactly what you need. It's a (giant) script, but it does not use vast varieties of the same item, but rather prefixes/suffixes and the like. :-)
Roar
Why does he have to add you to MSN? Can't you just post the script?
I'm sorry, i was not able to access rmxp (or anything but e-mail) at the time, except for MSN, thus i thought i could arrange a time there. ^^
Anyway, I'm using a script from Mike Black, specifically intended for enchanting items. it works like a charm for me, and should do pretty much everything you intend, with some terminology/effect altering in the script. It's pretty easy, even for a novice scripter (which i doubt you are ^^)
http://www.mts.net/~esuru/RpgxpFiles/EnchantingScript.zip <the demo.
Note that usually it's 1 or 2 max, as the name uses Prefix and Suffixes (though i think it might be optional) and it would get HUGE. ^^

The Zip file only works with the original Version of the maker not PK Knights... Don't suppose you could just post up the script ?
Or Mike Black's Site... I have searched on Google and found nothing ??
Make a new project... copy the scripts file from the zip file into the new project... open the new project and it's script editor, select the script(s) you want and copy them into your game...
I do that all the time =P
Btw... this script'll be perfect for my game... thanks ;) Saves a lot of eventing =P
Easiest is to copy over the game.proj (the 10 byte file) from an existing project into the demo. This will make it compatible :-D
Roar
Nice one... Ta !!!
I made my own fiorging thing by making shed loads of events and different weapons... LOL took me days !!!

Hmm... I guess that works
OMG
That's exactly what I wanted!!!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Thank you so much!!!
This script is great.
But I'm having trouble.
For some reason the weapons don't show up when I call the script.
Edit: I figured it out.
I'm having a problem with this script.
Everything works fine, except the enchanting occurs even if you have 0 for the item, and it doesn't decrease the ore amount.
How do I fix that?
Bump!!!
Still having a problem with this script.

How do I fix that?
If I can't, what I'm gonna do is change it back so that you can only enchant each weapon once, and that you don't need to collect items for it. It's not a big deal, but I'd rather allow the player to enchant multiple times based on items collected.
After I finish up a request, I'll check into this script problem. The poor guy has waited about a week or so on me to finish it... ^-^; This script is one that I tried my hand at about a year ago and failed miserably because I didn't know how to setup a "database" of sorts.
From what you've said Hawk, it sounds like some one just forgot to subtract the item(s) used in the enchanting of other items. I'll post in here again once I finish another request so that you know I'm checking into this.
alrighty. thanks. I'm in no rush to get it fixed anyway so I have no problem waiting.
I'm heading to bed now but when I get back up in a few hours, I'll check into this little problem of yours.
I hate double posting but your bug is fixed. I also eliminated another bug:Forging something while having 0 of that ore type. Took me roughly 1-2 hours due to a lazy attitude to fix these two little oversights of the original scripter. Honestly though, the scripter who did this script is damn good.
Thank you so much :D
Yes, it is an amazing script. But I ran into those two bugs and then I stopped the game for now because of it.
Thanks, I am very grateful.
solved? add [RESOLVED]
You are welcome. ^_^ If any other bugs pop up with scripts, you know where to find me.
I've been looking for this exact script! However, I can't get the zip file to work so could someone post it in a code box for me?
I ran into another problem with this script.
When scene_load is in my scripts, it doesn't allow me to load games, giving me this error:
Quote????? 'scene_load' 15 ??? EOFError ???????
End of file reached
I didn't use it for a while because I didn't think it was necessary at first, but then when I got to the point of the game where I started enchanting weapons, I found that without it the enchanted weapon disappears.
I'll look in to it when I get a spare minute.
seriously, I can't get the thing to work. Could someone please post it in a code box?
Very odd...are you sure that you didn't try loading a save file from a time before you inserted the Enchantment script? I saved and loaded a file just fine. Also, are you sure you didn't use any other scripts that had saved game data on that game file? I'm still VERY new to the data file handling of any programming language so I'm really out of my element here.
The scripts I'm using:
Levelup Animations
Save Animation- could this be screwing it up?
Stormtronics CMS
SG AutoBattle
HP Variance in monsters
SG Limited Shop Selling
Luck
Stat Distribution System.
Here's what I suggest doing. Insert each of those scripts in a fresh project with the Enchant script. Try each one with a one at a time approach while testing them with saving/loading to see if any of your other scripts are interfering with the save files. I recommend trying with a fresh save each time.
I will do that and get back to you with the results.
