actually, this can be done with switches.
just go into the item editing thing(in the database), and somewhere in the middle will be a box that says "common event". from here you can set a common event that the item sets off, and i nthe event you can activte whatever switches or do anything yo uwant.

if you wanted somethign else, sorry, and there probably isa script for it.
