Okay, so maybe I just acquired a poorly translated ROM of Tales of Phantasia, but one of the guys in the game just said "Mint has a certain elegance about her, but I bet Arche fucks like a tiger."

That's the DeJap translation you have, there. They have admitted to exaggerating much of their translation, and have revealed that that exact conversation never actually took place. However, I am fairly certain that many of Arche's suggestive comments are true to the original dialogue.

I think everyone has the DeJap version. I'm pretty sure it's the only translation available.

This one group's been working on translating the PSX re-release (which looks incredible. Many, MANY GOOD changes to design and stuff like that) but progress is very slow.

Yeah, it was released in, like, 98 or 2000 or something. It's taking them THIS LONG to finish translating it. I don't think it's ever gonna get done. =\

The Playstation version revamped all of the music, which makes me infinitely happy.

Especially the soopa-awesome rendition of The Second Act!!
