Using common events, and item combinations. Make a new item, have it activate a switch, and have that switch activate a common event. Make a common event with the preconditions of Auto-Start, and this switch. This common event should teleport the player to that new screen, and turn the switch off.
Note: The item's type should be a switch, and once you click that, you'll be able to decide if it should be in or outside of a battle.
