Arrow

It's not very good, and I've only just started it, but I figured I would post it to see if I was headed in the right direction.

Is it decent, or does it all out SUCK?

BTW it's an OGG file.

Roph

The piano in SGM is miles better than the one in Fluid, just for the record ~

Also lol if you're going to use that kind of bitrate for ogg you might as well use MP3.

As for the thing, it's kind of a little short to get a good idea of where you're going with it. Nice strings in the background though.

I'll be sure to listen when I get home. I'm in class right now... (How many times have people posted that lately?)

EDIT: Nice, I really like it! I'd like to hear it in a longer form though, heh...

You may want to try adding pedal marks to the piano, that may fit nicely, but that's personal preference. That is, if whatever you're using has a pedal operation.

Does Tabit have that? I wouldn't know...And I'll totally make it longer, I'm glad you guys liked it!

EDIT: I can't continue this. I listened to it again today, and I realized that it was a complete and total rip off of a song from castlevania! How in the world did that happen?? Ah well, no biggie. I'm posting a "finished" piece in the Gundam Generations topic shortly, it's completely original for SURE.

Damnit that was embaressing...

This kind of thing happens to me too. You start writing something really cool, and then you realize someone else thought it was really cool when they were writing it too.  :)

Blizzard

That´s how I often start: I make something I heard and liked. Then I start messing around with it and get something completely different and mostly even better. =)

Now I want to listen to it and see if I can recognize it as Castlevania music, but as for right now...

I am in class.

Arrow

It's part of Leon's theme, towards the end of the middle portion, in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. If you drop the violins, anyway.

[n00b question]What is an .ogg, and what player do I need to listen to it?  ;D;[/n00b question]

Blizzard

.ogg = a compressed file format like mp3. I think WinAmp can play it. If not, get a codec. *cough* ...for more info -> Wiki... *cough*

What pedal should he be using? TabIt can soften notes and let them ring. I forgot the third pedal's function though.

I finally figured out your question, lol. (It's been a long day.) I meant letting them ring, but they'd have to be placed strategically, otherwise it'd sound crappy. In all the programs I use, the pedal marks just let the notes ring, and I just assumed that it was the same in other programs, but I see it isn't.

And actually, I can't think of what the third pedal is supposed to do either.... Aren't there two pedals that operate the sustaining of notes? One for the lower end, and one for the higher end? I don't really know, I don't own a piano to go see.
