RPG Maker XP simply Not Responding

I used to use RPG Maker XP on my old computer but when I try to run the most recent version on my new computer it simply doesn't work. THe program starts but as soon as it opens it stop responding and I am unable to do anything but minimize and exit it. I was wondering if anyone knows why I might be having this problem and If perhaps it has something to do with the new version.
