A Question about Events

Ok I Have 2 Questions:

#1. I Got the Chest to open and Give me the Item, But How do you Keep the Chest Empty atfter you Obtain the Item?

#2. When you talk to someone and they give you an Item, How do you stop that part of the event? Because everytime I talk to him I Get another Item....How do you end that part of the event without him repeating and giving the same Item?
