Im having event problems

First off im using RPG maker 2003 and my event is in front of a teleport that you need to get to, but not without one of my characters. So what happens is you try to leave town and the event metions that you need to go get your freind, so it teleports you to her house, you talk to her and she joins your party. But when you go back to leave the town, the event is still there and will repeat itself. I have tried putting it in a loop then ending the loop and i have Tried erasing the event but that does'nt seem to work either. Right now the way i have gone around it is by making a copy of the map, but with no event on it. Is there an easier way?

Use switches, since i never used rm2k3 i dont know where to use switches, but that's all you need

Ok what you need to do, is set a switch on at the end of the event, then make a new page in the event and set the switch for a precondition
