My problem is, I can't open my game. I've been making a game on RPG Maker XP for the past few months. I tried to switch to full-screen mode while I was testrunning the game, and I think it froze (maybe I should have just been more patient). But anyway, I restarted my computer, and when I tried to open the game again, it wouldn't work.

If I try to open the file with RPG Maker XP, I get this message:

Could not read system data.

If I try to run the executable file, to play the game without editting it, I get this message:

????? 'Scene_Title' ? 30 ??? ArgumentError ????????
dump format error(0x74)

So, obviously the problem has occured at the title screen, but I can't tell exactly what it is. If anybody would be so kind as to help me get through this (or even if you just feel up to a challenge), please help me out. I'd be more than happy to give you more information at your request.

As I said, many months work have gone into this project, and the loss is hard to bear. I'm sure you can understand how I feel. My email adress is:

Thank you so much for your time.

It was the game, not RPG Maker XP.

Okay, you can try starting a new game.  Now copy the entire data folder from the old game to the new game BESIDES the scripts.rxdata to the new game.  If you had any custom scripts you'll have to get them back, but I believe from the error you showed me somethings wrong with the script too.  Anyway, what this will do is set the files into the other game ready to be messed with, all you have to do is do a little setting up for the maps all over again.

Of course if even a system.rxdata exists, you might not want to copy that either.

But the thing I don't understand is, doesn't system.rxdata hold a lot of important information, like the names of my switches and variables? Stuff like the title screen music and so on, I could fix easily enough, but I had a lot of switches (not that I don't appreciate the help, and you're right, the problem IS with the game)

wildrj, system.rxdata goes in the game's data folder, and is part of the game no matter what.

Please go learn about RPG Maker XP before you go off tlaking about how you're the master of it.

Well anyway...
The switches, I guess you'll just have to remake them.  It may take awhile but it's the only help I can offer at this point.
