So I have a couple questions, as I just got RPG Maker 2000 today...

I tryed to make a character join the hero's party after talking to him, that works, but the character remains on the map, and I as of yet have not been able to work out how to make that image disapear, I know it's probably one of the basic things to do, but I am stumped.

And other than that, what would you recommend 2000 or 2003? I wouldn't be paying for XP once the trial runs out so that one is out of the question.

You could always get Postality Knights.

Anyway...
You use switches.  I'm sure theres a tutorial for it somewhere but lemme give you an example...

At the ned of the event... set it to set switch001 on for example.  Now make a new page and set nothing to happen but set the conditions to have switch001 on.

Also I'd definately say 2003 over 2000.  2003 is simply a super 2000

I don't know if too many people here know a whole lot about 2000...most people here use either 2003 or XP (PK by my guess). PK is free (not legal) but at least it's free.

You can download the Postality Knight's version here at Crankeye but I must warn you...with this version you won't be able to open game files that are created with the legal version (you can open the actual game though). You will get "Cannot open file because of incompatibilty between software version".

Just go to Crankeye's main site...crankeye.com and look under the Downloads section for Postality Knights.

Hi, there.
Hey, for your problem there is two methods:

1. Make the first page say and do what you want with the image of the character and then when its done add a "Change Member Event" to add the character then make a new Switch (call it whatever you want), Make a new page and on that page have the precondition set to Switch "Whatever you named it" = On and have the image blank. But....

2. After you have the person talk and do what you want.... just add an "End Event" to it. Not sure if 2000 has it but I do know XP  Postality does.
