Seriously, does this feature (the one in the "move event" command) even work? What I want to do seems simple enough, but I just can't get it to work.
Here, allow me to explain the cutscene. Notice I said this is a cutscene.
I have a female character standing in front of a sink. She's supposed to be washing dishes, so setting move animation to ON makes is look like she's doing just that (since Move Animation, if you didn't know, is just like walking in place.) Now, she's going to do this for a while, and then she's going to walk two spaces to the right and STOP. Completely stop. As in, NO MORE MOVE ANIMATION ON. STOP, DISH WASHING LADY.
But I cannot get this to work.
I'm using two events to set this up; the woman herself, and a graphic-less event that's used as the main command event, the one that moves the cutscene along.
I've tried the obvious solutions, like setting move animation ON in the WOMAN'S event in that little check box and THEN making her move from the graphic-less event and giving the command to STOP MOVE ANIMATION, but she keeps moving in place! I've tried turning on Move Animation FROM the graphic-less event, but that doesn't work either, and that's what makes me wonder what the hell it's even listed there for. I can make her move two spaces to the right, but the move animation simply will not turn OFF.
I even tried simply using the woman's event commands to turn on the move animation through the Move Event command, and it still didn't do anything. Yeah, yeah, auto-start, parallel process, action key, whatever. None of them work.
So what gives? Does this feature simply not work, or what?
And what would you experts suggest to make my idea possible?
Sorry if the post is a little convoluted, but I'm not sure exactly how much detail I need to go into for you guys.
Edit: oh god I forgot to mention, I'm using XP.
