Weird text in RPG Maker 2--3

Hi.  I was wondering if anybody here can help me.  Basically what happens is when a character speaks in game their text is scrunched up and hard to read.  Like kind of.  Parts of the letters in the text are cut off making it difficult to read and interpret.  Is there a way to fix this?  Any patches?  Or anything I could do?  Any help on this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

The letters I have problems with are lower case b's, lower case d's, capital E's are weird, lowercase e's have problems, the bottom of capital F's are almost cut off, lower case f's look like l's, all h's (both caps and lower) are small and put in the middle of the line (not touching the bottom or the top), lower case j's look like l's that go through the bottom of the line, parts of both capital and lowercase k's are cut off, capital l's have part of their top cut off, parts of m's and n's are cut off, lower case o's look like a's, the bottoms of both cap and lowercase p's are cut off, bottom of lowercase q is completly cut off, lowercase r's are just a stub, lowercase s's are wierd, lowercase t's look like l's, parts of lowercase u's have parts cut off, both caps and lowercase w's run into each other, lowercase x's look like small backwards k's, lowercase z's are missing part of their top, and comma's look like periods.  Sorry for the long post.  Just describing my problem.
