Okay look, to make a chest... go to the event layer, set the event graphic to one of the chests. First thing... make it Activate Local(or Self) Switch A. Now make a new event page and go to the preconditions, make sure it only activates if Local/Self switch A is on, also set it to autorun. As an example we'll say you gain a potion. Okay now set the graphic to the open version of the chest and make it say "You have obtained a potion." Now in th events 1st tab theres a thing called Change Items, choose potion and make the constant one. Now make it activate a switch, we'll use switch0001 as an example. And make yet another new event page. With the 3rd event page use the preconditions to make sure it only adtivates when Switch0001 is on, and set the graphic to that of the open chest. And TADA~ You're done.
