changing battle graphic transparency

How can I change the transparency of the battle graphic? The image I am using makes it impossible to see the figures for HP and SP with certain images behind them,

Well, when in battle, my character image is covering the HP and SP numbers, so it is difficult to see how much health you have left. I just want to make it more transparent so that you can see the numbers easier.

Alas that is a problem I encountered through script editing.  Just make a new game, and test out each script edit you make 1 by 1 so you can find what you did wrong.
