When I try to run it it automatically closes itself, and then windows does that stupid error thing and tells me the program had a critical error and had to close itself. BLAH!! >.<

It seems to be some kind of 3-D RPG building engine. The graphics are pretty good considering how small the application is, but I can't seem to find any good tutorials on it. I may need some help looking up how to use his thing.....

If you're trying to ask if it's in 3-D, yes. yes it is, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I don't know what the hell I'm doing with this thing. I seriously want some help with these tutorials so I can get down and dirty with this new software.

I preffer my 2D over 3-D anyway, unless it's cell-shading. I'm all up for cell-shading.

I really enjoyed the NES and SNES games. That's why I like the XP and 2000 versions, but the 3D version is good too.

There are actually 2 RPG builders. One for the PC. And one (OMG) for the PS2. The PS2 one sucked, because everthing was done with a controller. It took forever to do everything.

And, the link isn't working for me... it says the page is unavailable.

Q: How might one customize a 3-d game? Wouldn't it have to include texture, skin, and model files that can be easily editted to satiate our RPG-Making hunger? (btw I'm not fully aware of 3-d program terms so I'm probably calling them the wrong things...)

Yeah, I love 2-D games.

It's dumb when games are in 3-D and they don't have to be.

Among them:
~Final Fantasy 7 (on up, according to my knowledge)
~...and just about every other Square-Enix game
~Skies of Arcadia

dunno, i'd agree ff7 and ff8 should have been in 2d, my view of the whole 2d-3d stuff is-
2d looks better than any 3d that doesn't make me go "wow thats really shiny"

but ff9, x, xi and so on got amazing 3d graphics and there a lot more of such hella good 3d ones which i think are far superior to 2d (and far laggier)

my take on hte whole 2D 3D thing is... if the game is out just for impressing people with shiny things, then 3D all the way ...as long as it looks like PGR3 or something...lawls.

if its a good game thats just plain fun as hell to play, 2D RULZ!!!!!
i will always play 2D RPG's, i played FF10 the other dya and i dont like how...3D it is lawls. 2D, much more fun...because it is...lawls

and thats my 2 cents...(damn i almost said '2 rings' because i post a lot more on my chainmaille board and its soem little joke there...)(ahh...damn) :O_o:

I think that 2D is good, as long as it runs well, and looks pretty decent. 3D is good if the graphics are done well. Either way, a game can be crap without the proper mixing of maps and characters and storyline.

i say screw it, stick with XP for the PC, and get RPG Maker 3 for Playstation 2. I have seen the 3D graphics for that, and they are frickin good comparitively. I'm getting it for Christmas hopefully!

Anyways, that's just my opinion...

I just joined today and I like to agree with yall.2d is better then 3d.I grow up with 2d(by the way im 14) at the age of 2 playing Super Mario Bros.Any ways i think 3d should be only for PS2 and other todays systems,not RPG maker games.

I'm on the staff at 3d-rpgbuilder.

You can make your own models and use your own textures, the graphics are as good as YOU make them.

It's not for noobs, which is what all of you are. Why not, you know, try downloading it from the offical site? You're only going to delete it afterwards when you reslise you'll actually need to put ALOT of effort into this thing to have something people will enjoy.
