There's this German browser game called WAR2 Glory. You've probably never heard of it. "Alleged Cougar" Lisa Carroll, 39 (pictured), and her 16 year-old "fiancee" have, though, because it's where they met, and it's how they started knocking boots.

After growing closer through the game, the pair actually got engaged - via Skype - and then started having sex when Carroll drove 800 miles from Maryland to meet the boy in a Florida hotel room.

Shortly after they were done and his "fiancee" had gone home, the kid realised how weird everything was and told his parents, who then called the cops. The cops then turned up at Carroll's apartment back in Maryland to arrest her, since in Florida it's illegal for anyone over the age of 23 to have sex with a 16 year-old.

That's not the crowning moment of this story, though. No, that comes during the arrest itself, when the cops cuff her, tell her what she's charged with and...her husband is in the room. The lady was already married.

I met my partner over an on-line game, but it wasn't exactly a risk because the person who introduced us was a good friend of mine so I could trust it enough. There are a number of success stories on it, but they are overshadowed by the amount of times that this kind of thing happens. In most cases, on either side, there's someone who gets caught in the middle of it.

I've heard enough stories like this that it's hardly a surprise any more. It's definitely becoming quite a common thing with the amount of time a person spends on games like that. Even though you've never met, you can end up getting quite close to another person over said games as though you are actually meeting them.

The big issue is the woman is 39 and was married (more than likely to get papers served soon) and drove out to have sex with a 16 year old.  This isn't exactly an issue of whether it's right or wrong to be dating over the internet or through a game, it's more of an issue of shouldn't she have drawn the line before cheating on her husband with a 16 year old boy lol.

Her jail time will answer that question since the boy realized how weird it is finally.

Cheating, imho, is never right. I don't care about the ages. Marriage is a lifetime commitment. And there is never a right time to cheat.  Or a reason that makes it ok. If you want a different relationship, end the one you have.

That being said I have many family members who have married people much older or much younger than themselves. Most of them are happily wed and it isn't a big deal.  But 16 is entirely too young.  A 16 year old is still a child and deserves to be protected, not used.

One reason that women probably get away with it more is because I am to assume women don't rape/kill as often in the process of it?

My friend was 'dating' some mom on an mmo and we were all angry at him cuz she's married etc etc. Found out that her husband didn't care either and he was cheating on her too.

Also some people are just weird and/or disgusting. If you're going to get naughty with 16-year-olds, it helps to be, you know, a 16-year-old.

I won't speak for other countries, but in Australia you're legally allowed to have sex when you're 10 years old.

It works by a process of a two year difference.

10 year olds can have sex with 10, 11 & 12 year olds. But no older or younger.

12 year olds can have sex with 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 year olds, but no older or younger.


It keeps going like that until you're 18 years old, which you can have sex with anyone over 16 years old provided they aren't teachers or special carers etc.

Actually, I do remember someone telling me that here it has to be within 2 years also, I just wasn't sure exactly what they meant. I was wondering if it just meant 18 can be with 16 but no other exceptions but the way you described it is probably how it is here. There were girls already promiscuous when I was 12, I guess they learned the legality early.
