The story begins with Edgar awakening from one of his usual nightmares about the death of his wife who was killed three years ago during a break-in in his shop. Edgar, who is on his last leg, is preparing to commit suicide, the noose around his neck he has a vision of Lucille before the incident, and can’t bring himself to do it, defeated by his own will Edgar returns home and goes to bed early that night. He wakes up early to find that a hooded figure is in his bedroom. He Tells Edgar that he can bring Lucille back to life for him, but at a price. Edgar agrees whole heartedly blinded by his emotions he’s willing to accept anything. Edgar will soon find out that what he has been promised was not his beautiful wife back, but eternal damnation and to serve the figure forever. However the demon has tricked other lost souls as well, who he makes Edgar work together with, but it is not long before they are all fed up with the demons antics, so they work together to rebel against the demon to get what they are told in the first place.
The story starts in small, curiously empty city on a major trade route known as the birthplace of a famous hero. The city goes by the name of Aelcrest which is home to the protagonist Edgar. Aelcrest is located in the middle of a large island nation by the name of Prywald. On the island of RoseCrest every family has their own individual and specific crest which tells the Family's social status and job; at its most basic form you might call it a Caste system. However, Prywald is the only nation that still partakes in this idea. Prywalds Climate being a northern island nation gives it, it's moderate to freezing weather at all times. There are no deserts in Prywald as it is much too cold. Most ultra-northern regions have sparse vegetation but that is mainly at the most northern points, otherwise you will find moderate vegetation and lots of running water. Most towns in Prywald are small but Gallesia the cities capital is one of the largest cities in Eriata. It is known for many things, mainly being a Haven for magic and other relics but also as a sinful hellhole because of its gambling and prostitution filled streets.
Edgar Thomas 30 year old man, born in Aelcrest Township. He has charcoal black hair, his skin tone is dark brown and he is about 6 feet tall. He wears an Engagement necklace given to him by his deceased wife Lucille. He has no living family in his life, and his education history is all learning the Blacksmithing Trade. He runs own small smithy in Aelcrest. His biggest fear is not knowing what to do next in his life; his vice is his drinking ever since his wife died. You could say his best qualities are his Sincerity, Honesty, and Leadership. Edgar’s worst qualities are his habit of arguing with others. His favorite novel is RoseCrest History. He is tired of his workaday life ever since the passing of his wife, and is looking for something new or exciting, or even a way out of life, whichever comes first/ what he really wants however, is his best friend back
Socorro Barnes 22 year old woman from TealCrest she has blue eyes, and blonde hair, her skin color is white, and she is 5' 1 she wears no jewelry but has a star tattooed on her right arm. She has little to no relationship to her family after she ran away. Due to her wealthy background she has a very high level education. Socorro’s biggest fear is death, and her worst habit is her kleptomania, her biggest quirk is that she thinks she’s funny and laughs at her own jokes. Her best quality is her cheerfulness, and her worst quality is her dishonesty. One of Socorro’s favorite things in the world is sweets. Socorro ran away from home after they found out about her roguish lifestyle, Socorro comes from a very distinguished family with a very well known crest, but she was an embarrassment to them, but all she wants in life is to be accpeted by them.
Rafael Huber 42 year old priest from Antaria a far off land west of Eriata. His eyes are brown and his hair is grey, his skin town is an olive tone. He is about 5'8 and bears a cross necklace signifying his religious nature. He is the father of 3 with a wife, and has very good family bonds. He went to seminary to gain his priesthood. Rafael's biggest fear is losing his family and his worst habit is worrying, while his best quality is his patience and his worst quality is his selfishness. His favorite novel is the Antarian bible. Rafael came from Antaria on a mission trip, but he soon found out that he could not return home due to insufficient funds and a couple other things that he won’t mention. His main goal is to get back to his family.
